  1. 1. Seeking Asylum - Finding a Home? A qualitative study on asylum seekers' integration in two different housing contexts

    Author : Lina Sandström; Magnus Boström; Christine Roman; Åsa Wettergren; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Refugee; migration; residence permit; belonging; work; social capital; integration policy; housing policy; segregation; dispersal; Sweden;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis is to contribute to our sociological understanding of integration by exploring how asylum seekers in Sweden make sense of their own position in relation to the society they are living in. Integration is conceptualised as a mutual process, the end goal of which is equal participation and belonging to a given society. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structural and Spectroscopic Studies of Solvated Metal Ions

    Author : Alireza Abbasi; Magnus Sandström; Ernö Brucher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coordination; Solvation; X-ray diffraction; EXAFS; IR; Raman; Normal coordinate analysis; trivalent metal ions; dmso; triflate; hydration; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Crystallographic and spectroscopic studies have been performed of structures, coordination and chemical bonding for series of trivalent metal ions solvated by two oxygen-coordinating solvents, water and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The hydrated scandium(III) and lanthanoid(III) ions, La to Lu, are surrounded by tricapped trigonal prisms of aqua ligands in the isomorphous series of trifluoromethanesulfonates, [M(H2O)n](CF3SO3)3. Abstract : Our world is filling up with electronics. High-tech gadgets are integrated everywhere, from smart fridges able to track expiry dates and food usage, to microchip implants that let us unlock doors and pay with our hands. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structure and bonding of sulfur-containing molecules and complexes

    Author : Emiliana Damian Risberg; Magnus Sandström; Ingmar Persson; Tsun-Kong Sham; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sulfur species; x-ray absorption and vibrational spectroscopy; TP-DFT calculations; Chemistry; Kemi; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : Synchrotron-based spectroscopic techniques enable investigations of the many important biological and environmental functions of the ubiquitous element sulfur. In this thesis the methods for interpreting sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra are developed and applied for analyses of functional sulfur groups. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sulfur-Related Conservation Concerns in Marine Archaeological Wood : The Origin, Speciation and Distribution of Accumulated Sulfur with Some Remedies for the Vasa

    Author : Yvonne Fors; Magnus Sandström; Ian MacLeod; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sulfur accumulation; marine archaeological wood; Vasa; acidity; iron; ammonia; x-ray spectroscopy; cellulose; Chemistry; Kemi; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : Synchrotron-based sulfur spectroscopy reveals a common concern for marine archaeological wood from seawater: accumulation of reduced sulfur compounds in two pathways. The distribution of sulfur species in the oak wood cell structure was mapped by scanning x-ray spectro-microscopy (SXM). READ MORE
