  1. 1. Cerebral oedema after reperfusion therapy in patients with ischaemic stroke : predictors, outcomes and treatment

    Author : Magnus Thorén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Introduction: Reperfusion therapy by intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and/or endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) are established treatments in ischaemic stroke. Cerebral oedema (COED), caused by dysfunction the blood brain barrier (BBB), is common early after acute ischaemic stroke (AIS), can aggravate the symptoms and worsen the prognosis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Resource economy of carnivorous plants: Interactions between prey capture and plant performance in three subarctic Pinguicula species

    Author : Magnus Thorén; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant ecology; income breeder; capital breeder; supplementary feeding; reproductive effort; life-history; cost of reproduction; Växtekologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have studied in situ the resource economy of the three carnivorous plant species Pinguicula alpina, P. villosa and P. vulgaris in a subarctic environment. The prey capture varied among individual plants, years and species. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hadron Physics in a Polarized World : Exploring Electromagnetic Interactions with Spin Observables

    Author : Viktor Thorén; Andrzej Kupsc; Karin Schönning; Magnus Wolke; David Ireland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hadron; Hyperon; Meson; Polarization; Spin observables; Electromagnetic interactions; BESIII; Fysik med inriktning mot kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : The electromagnetic interactions of hadrons serve as a valuable probe of the nature of the strong force at low energies and simultaneously allow for tests of fundamental discrete symmetries. In this thesis, I show how polarization observables can be used to gain an in-depth understanding of these processes and present two analyses of data from the BESIII experiment where such observables have been studied. 4. 4. Technology in Absentia : A New Materialist Study of Digital Disengagement

    Author : Cristina Ghita; Claes Thorén; Mats Edenius; Jenny Eriksson Lundström; Magnus Mähring; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; digital disengagement; diffractive digital use; ethnography; new materialism; technology non-use; digital disconnection; digital detox; Information Systems; Informationssystem;

    Abstract : The rhetoric associated with society-wide digitalisation promises benefits such as increased quality of life, democracy, or sustainability, which point towards normative trajectories of increased automation and digitalisation of nearly all aspects of society. Meanwhile, there is evidence of a disenchantment with digital use, forming a movement that challenges the pervasiveness of digital artefacts such as the smartphone. READ MORE
