    Abstract : This thesis investigates responses to external cues in oral bacteria on a molecular level. Paper I maps Ser/Thr/Tyr phosphorylated proteins in relation to the general proteome in an oral commensal streptococcus (Streptococcus gordonii DL1). READ MORE

  2. 2. Haemophilus influenzae – typing, epidemiology and beta-lactam resistance

    Author : Viktor Månsson; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; benzylpenicillin; beta-lactam resistance; beta-lactams; BLNAR; capsule typing; clonal; Haemophiilus influenzae; Hib; MALDI-TOF MS; MLST; NTHi; serotyping; virulence; epidemiology;

    Abstract : Haemophilus influenzae is a common cause of respiratory tract infections such as acute otitis media (AOM), exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia. The species is subdivided into encapsulated and non-encapsulated strains, designated type a-f and nontypeable H. influenzae (NTHi), respectively. READ MORE

  3. 3. Genital human papillomaviruses. Studies of their occurrence, type spectrum and expression

    Author : Ola Forslund; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA expression; microwell; HPV 70; type determination; CIN; quantification; urine; multifocal infections; hybridization; PCR; HPV; human papillomavirus; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence of genital human papillomavirus infection was determined in different categories of patients by means of PCR. In high proportion of young women attending an adolescent clinic, the presence of HPV DNA was demonstrated in simultaneously urethral and cervical samples, suggesting that genital HPV infections are often multifocal. Abstract : Both Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and nontypeable H. influenzae (NTHi) are important human pathogens causing invasive and mucosal infections. Currently there are number of vaccines available against Hib infections. READ MORE

  5. 5. The ubiquity and type diversity of papillomaviruses in normal skin

    Author : Annika Antonsson; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []

    Abstract : Papillomaviruses are a diverse, epitheliotropic group of viruses. Some genotypes are the main cause of anogenital cancer in humans; others can induce skin lesions. In order to investigate the occurrence of subclinical skin infections with human papillomavirus (HPV), a pair of degenerate primers (FAP59/64) was designed. READ MORE
