    Abstract : An increasing number of educational policies, academic studies, and university courses today propagate ‘interculturality’ as a method for approaching ‘the Other’ and reconciling universal values and cultural specificities. Based on a thorough discussion of Europe’s colonial past and the hierarchies of knowledge that colonialism established, this dissertation interrogates the definitions of intercultural knowledge put forth by EU policy discourse, academic textbooks on interculturality, and students who have completed a university course on the subject. 2. 2. Geographies of the Japanese Cultural Economy : Innovation and Creative Consumption

    Author : Jakob Nobuoka; Dominic Power; Anders Malmberg; Mark Lorenzen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Japan; Cultural Economy; Innovation; Consumption; Manga; Human geography; economic geography; Kulturgeografi; ekonomisk geografi; Social and Economic Geography; Kulturgeografi;

    Abstract : What is the role of the consumer in the contemporary cultural economy? Where are culturaleconomy innovations and competitiveness created? This thesis aims to provide tentativeanswers to these questions by focusing on some illustrative examples from the Japanesecultural economy. However, rather than primarily describing firm strategies or industrialdynamics, emphasis is put on the places and practices of users. READ MORE

  3. 3. Designing Energy-Sensitive Interactions : Conceptualising Energy from the Perspective of Electric Cars

    Author : Anders Lundström; Jan Gulliksen; Kristina Höök; Cristi Bogdan; Ron Wakkary; KTH; []

    Abstract : As technology is increasingly used in mobile settings, energy and battery management is becoming a part of everyday life. Many have experienced how quickly a battery can be depleted in a smartphone, laptop or electric cars, sometimes causing much distress. READ MORE

  4. 4. Photonic Waveguide Modelling of Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians

    Author : Naemi Florin; Mohamed Bourennane; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The branch of condensed matter physics focusing on topological phases of matter has rapidly grown into a major part of the research field. A common feature of topological models is their robust edge and corner states, that are robust against perturbations of the Hamiltonian. This work studies such edge and corner states experimentally.
