  3. 3. Characterization of p58 and rab1p, two proteins operating at the interface of the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex

    Author : Ulla Lahtinen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : protein transport; rab1p; p58; animal lectin; intermediate compartment; endoplasmic reticulum; Golgi complex;

    Abstract : Endomembranes participating in the early stages in exocytosis consist of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), the Golgi complex, and vesicular transport intermediates at their interface. These vesicular transport intermediates were first visualized by following the synchronized transport of a viral membrane protein from the ER to the Golgi complex, which occurs at slower rates at reduced temperatures causing an accumulation of transport vesicles. 4. 4. Aetiology and infection susceptibility in neutropaenic patients

    Author : Michelle Wong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Increasingly intensive antineoplastic regimes have been effective in the treatment for haematological malignancies, but as effective as it is in limiting neoplasm of the malignant cells, bystander damage occurs equally to cells of the immune system and epithelial cells of the mucosa. Infectious complications following chemotherapy reflect this situation. READ MORE

    Author : Mai Tuyet Vuong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : IgA nephropathy and nephritis in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) are two common forms of glomerulonephritis with unknown etiology. As for many other complex diseases, both genetic and environmental factors could be of importance for disease development. READ MORE
