  1. 1. In pursuit of clean air through numerical simulations of no-waste pollutant removal

    Author : Marc Rovira; Christophe Duwig; Klas Engvall; Matthew Johnson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Air quality; SOx and NOx removal; Ozone oxidation; Aerosol particle formation; Large-eddy simulations; Reactive flows; Proper orthogonal decomposition; Machine learning; Sensitivity analysis; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : As epidemiological evidence continues to mount, it has become undeniable that exposure to high levels of airborne pollutants such as SOx and NOx are detrimental to human health. In recent years, millions of premature deaths by stroke, coronary heart disease, and lung cancer worldwide have been linked to poor outdoor air quality. READ MORE

  2. 2. Enterprise Systems Modifiability Analysis : An Enterprise Architecture Modeling Approach for Decision Making

    Author : Robert Lagerström; Pontus Johnson; Marc Lankhorst; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Enterprise Architecture; Software System Modifiability; Decision Making; Metamodeling; Enterprise Architecture Analysis; Software Change Cost Estimation; Other information technology; Övrig informationsteknik;

    Abstract : Contemporary enterprises depend to great extent on software systems. During the past decades the number of systems has been constantly increasing and these systems have become more integrated with one another. This has lead to a growing complexity in managing software systems and their environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ecological and Evolutionary Consequences of Herbivory in the Perennial Herb Lythrum salicaria

    Author : Lina Lehndal; Jon Ågren; Peter Hambäck; Marc Johnson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Disturbance gradient; Female reproductive success; Galerucella calmariensis; Galerucella pusilla; Herbivore removal; Latitudinal gradient; Local adaptation; Nanophyes marmoratus; Plant-herbivore interactions; Plant size; Resistance to herbivory; Tolerance to damage; Biology with specialization in Ecological Botany; Biologi med inriktning mot ekologisk botanik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I combined field, common-garden and greenhouse experiments to examine the ecological and evolutionary consequences of plant-herbivore interactions in the perennial herb Lythrum salicaria. More specifically I examined (1) whether resistance and tolerance to damage from herbivores vary with latitude and are positively related to the intensity of herbivory in natural populations, (2) whether effects of herbivory on plant fitness vary with latitude, (3) whether populations are locally adapted and whether herbivory influences the relative fitness of populations, and (4) whether the intensity and effects of insect herbivory on reproductive output vary locally along a disturbance gradient and are associated with differences in plant resistance.
