    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Subarachnoid heamorrhage; impairment; disability; activities of daily living; work; leisure; depression; quality of life; rehabilitation; occupational therapy;

    Abstract : This investigation addresses functions/impairments, abilities/disabilities and quality of life (QoL) in a consecutive series of non-hospitalised long-term survivors (2,5-12 years) of subarachnoid heamorrhage (SAH). The investigated parameters of functions/impairments were: motor, language, perceptual and memory functions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Brain Plasticity and Upper Limb Function After Stroke: Some Implications for Rehabilitation

    Author : Påvel Lindberg; Jörgen Borg; Hans Forssberg; Margareta Engardt; Cornelius Weiller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Neurosciences; Stroke; Upper Limb; Brain Plasticity; Functional MRI; Diffusion Tensor Imaging; Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation; Neurovetenskap;

    Abstract : Neuroimaging and neurophysiology techniques were used to study some aspects of cortical sensory and motor system reorganisation in patients in the chronic phase after stroke. Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging, we found that the degree of white matter integrity of the corticofugal tracts (CFT) was positively related to grip strength. READ MORE

  3. 3. Acupuncture - effects on muscle blood flow and aspects of treatment in the clinicla context

  4. 4. Preventing pressure ulcers by assessment of the microcirculation in tissue exposed to pressure

    Author : Sara Bergstrand; Margareta Lindgren; Anna-Christina Ek; Maria Engström; Lars-Göran Lindberg; Fredrik Huss; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pressure ulcer; photoplethysmography; laser Doppler flowmetry; non-invasive; tissue blood flow; reactive hyperemia; pressure-induced vasodilation; interface pressure; risk assessment;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to combine optical methods into a system with the ability to simultaneously measure blood flow changes at different tissue depths. The goal of such a system was to reveal vascular mechanisms relevant to pressure ulcer etiology under clinically relevant conditions and in relation to the evaluation of pressure-redistribution support surfaces.
