  1. 1. Sensitivity and selectivity studies in capillary electrophoresis

    Author : Maria Petersson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peptides; dansyl amino acids; imaging detection; cyclodextrins; enantiomer separation; acoustic levitation; solid-phase extraction; preconcentration; capillary electrophoresis; micellar electrokinetic chromatography; drugs; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis is characterised by high separation efficiency, applicability to a wide range of compounds, small sample and solvent consumption and simple instrumentation. To improve sensitivity using on-line absorbance detectors, which are hampered by the short optical path length, sample volumes in the microlitre range were concentrated to nanolitre volumes either off-line or on-line. 2. 2. Short- and long-term cardiovascular and behavioural effects of oxytocin : mechanisms involved and influence of female steroid hormones

    Author : Maria Petersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : oxytocin; nociceptive thresholds; naloxone; blood pressure; heart rate; spontaneous motor activity; oestrous cycle; ovariectomy; oestradiol; progesterone; weight gain; clonidine; locus coeruleus; alpha 2-adrenoreceptor; cholecystokinin; insulin; gastrin; corticosterone; ACTH; rat;

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to investigate short- and long-term cardiovascular and behavioural effects of oxytocin. In addition, the influence of female steroid hormones as well as possible mechanisms behind the oxytocin induced effects were investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Enhanced edible films of mixed biopolymers for controlled release

    Author : Maria Petersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; acetem; phase separation; mechanical properties; hylon; edible rilm; release; starch; zein; water vapour premeability;

    Abstract : In recent years there has been a growing interest and increased intensity of research in the area of edible films and coatings. Edible films and coatings can improve quality and shelf-life of food products by acting as barriers to e.g. moisture and oxygen, hence preventing dehydration and oxidative reactions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Enhancement and Characterization of Films for Barrier and Release Applications

    Author : Maria Petersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; release; edible materials; petroleum wax; starch; acetoglyceride; microstructure; water vapour permeability; phase separation; protein;

    Abstract : Films and coatings can improve the quality and shelf-life of food products by acting as barriers to e.g. water vapour and oxygen. Many edible biopolymer films, based on polysaccharides and proteins, form excellent oxygen barriers but most often provide only poor water vapour barriers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Neuroendocrine studies in patients with affective disorders

    Author : Marie Bendix; Jussi Jokinen; Marie Bixo; Viktor Kaldo; Maria Petersson; Anna-Carin Wihlbäck; Wieslaw J. Cubala; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affective disorder; Suicide attempt; Postpartum depression; Postpartum psychosis; Personality traits; Violence; Oxytocin; Insulin; Glucagon; Allopregnanolone; Progesterone; Estradiol;

    Abstract : Background: Affective disorders are common and a major cause for increased disability and mortality worldwide. Exogenous stressors and biological variables, including neuroendocrine factors, are assumed to contribute to an increased vulnerability to mood dysregulation. READ MORE
