11. Protein Modifications by Low Molecular Weight Chemicals Inducing Airways Diseases
Abstract : Airways diseases are one of the most common health effects in the western world today. It has been shown that low molecular weight chemicals (LMWC) can cause airways diseases. The mechanisms for these diseases are not well known in most cases. Also, methods for biological monitoring of exposure are not available for many of these LMWC. READ MORE

12. Asthma care for children and adolescents
Abstract : Background: Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases among young children and adolescents. With high quality health care, most children and adolescents with asthma can live an active and normal life. Yet, many children and adolescents have uncontrolled asthma, with symptoms and exacerbations which may affect their daily life. READ MORE

13. Corneal stromal cell responses to traumatic wounds and topical treatments
Abstract : Background. The cornea has unique anatomic, cellular, molecular, and functional features that lead to important mechanistic differences in the process of repair in comparison with what occurs in skin and other organs. The first observable stromal response in corneal wound healing is keratocyte apoptosis. READ MORE

14. Carbohydrate-specific, boronate-containing copolymers: from sugar-sensing to cell adhesion
Abstract : Carbohydrates play a major role in many cell recognition events and metabolic pathways of living organisms. Synthetic carbohydrate receptors are of great interest for the chemical design of sugar sensors, materials for cell separation, cell immobilization, drug delivery and other biomedical/biotechnological applications. 15. Identification and Characterization of Novel Candidate Oncogenes
Abstract : Using computer-assisted sequence homology searches we identified three genes encoding proteins similar to certain fusion partner proteins in cancer. The novel APRIL gene was localized to 15q25 and encodes a protein, containing an acidic amino-acid region similar to that/those of leukemia-associated fusion partner proteins DEK and SET. READ MORE
