  1. 1. Effects pf hypoxia and antiepileptic drugs of electrophysiological properties of CA1 neurons in hippocampus

    Author : Marita Englund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Antiepileptic drug; brain slice; epilepsy; hippocampus; hypoxia; patchclamp; rat;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on three experimental studies (I-III) of CA1 hippocampal neurons in rat brain slices, where the electrophysiological properties are examined with patch clamp technique under hypoxic conditions and during treatment with antiepileptic drugs, respectively. The cells were visualized and identified in the slice by means of infrared differential interference contrast (IR-DIC) video microscopy and the experiments were carried out at room temperature (22-25 ºC). 3. 3. Studies on nerve terminations in human mucosa and skin

    Author : Marita Hilliges; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Epithelium; herpes simplex; immunohistochemisry; Merkel cell; mucosa; nerves; oral; PGP 9.5; skin; stereology; urinary incontinence; vagina.;

    Abstract : In spite of their accessibility and important sensory function, the nervous tissue components of human oral and vaginal mucosa and skin have been subject to very few, if any, systematic investigations. Studies on the innervation of oral tissues have mainly focused on the dental pulp, the periodontium and the gingiva, probably because of specific clinical interest, thus largely neglecting the mucosa. 4. 4. Enabling boundary-crossing collaboration for innovation : issues for collaborative working environments

    Author : Marita Holst; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Informatik; Informatics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, boundary-crossing collaborative knowledge work aiming for innovation and use of ICT is in focus. The starting point for the research was the proposition that we still have much to learn about boundary- crossing collaboration for innovation and the use of ICT before we can design enabling and supporting ICT and collaborative working environments. 5. 5. Knowledge work across boundaries : inquiring into the processes of creating a shared context

    Author : Marita Holst; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Informatik; Informatics;

    Abstract : The problem area focused on in this thesis is knowledge work across boundaries and the processes of information exchange which lead to sharing, creation and use of knowledge and, thus, a shared context. The purpose of the thesis is to explore the management of these processes and which roles information and communication technology are given by the boundary-crossing groups. READ MORE
