  1. 1. Functional aspects on the Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 5

    Author : Martin Dufva; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr Virus; EBV; B-cell; transformation; cDNA array; polyadenylation; transcription; cell cycle; apoptosis; two-hybrid system.;

    Abstract : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infects resting B-cells. This leads to an EBV driven transformation of the resting B-cell into a cell with an activated B-cell phenotype that proliferates indefinitely in vitro. Epstein-Barr Nuclear antigen 5 (EBNA5) is one out of six EBV encoded protein involved in transformation of resting B-cell. READ MORE

  2. 2. Droplet microfluidics for single cell and nucleic acid analysis

    Author : Prem Kumar Periyannan Rajeswari; Helene Andersson Svahn; Håkan Jönsson; Martin Dufva; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustophoresis; Biomarker detection; Cell behavior analysis; Cell factories; Droplet microfluidics; Droplet PCR; High throughput biology; Label-free enrichment; Single cell analysis; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Droplet microfluidics is an emerging technology for analysis of single cells and biomolecules at high throughput. The controlled encapsulation of particles along with the surrounding microenvironment in discrete droplets, which acts as miniaturized reaction vessels, allows millions of particles to be screened in parallel. 3. 3. Chemical micropatterning of hyaluronic acid hydrogels for brain endothelial in vitro cell studies

    Author : Ana Maria Porras Hernández; Maria Tenje; Martin Dufva; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Micropatterning; hydrogels; hyaluronic acid; brain endothelial cells; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : The building blocks of human tissues are cells. The cells interact and respond to the characteristics of their local microenvironment. The cellular microenvironment is formed by three main components, the extracellular matrix, neighbouring cells and signalling molecules. READ MORE

  4. 4. Glycosylation in cancer and infection : the role of sialic acid

    Author : Yuecheng Zhang; Anette Wingren; Maria Stollenwerk; Lars Ohlsson; Martin Dufva; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cancer; sialic acids; receptor; molecularly imprinted polymers; SARS-CoV-2; fluorescence; Health and society; Hälsa och samhälle;

    Abstract : Sialic acids (SA), a group of nine-carbon backbone monosaccharides are abundantly expressed in vertebrates. They are usually linked to the terminal of glycan chains and play crucial roles in many biological processes, including cell adhesion, cell-cell interactions, immune modulation, cancer cell migration and invasion, as well as viral infections.
