  1. 1. Biosynthetic and synthetic studies of the fungal metabolite galiellalactone

    Author : Martin H Johansson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; enzyme; mycelium; intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction; Diels-Alderase; asymmetric synthesis; biosynthesis; total synthesis; STAT3 inhibition; galiellalactone; fungal metabolite;

    Abstract : Galiellalactone is a fungal metabolite found in the basidiomycetes Galiella rufa and the unidentified strain A111-95. It has been shown to possess promising activities as an inhibitor of the IL-6 mediated STAT3 signaling in HepG2 cells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Control of Multi-Agent Systems with Applications to Distributed Frequency Control Power Systems

    Author : Martin Andreasson; Karl H. Johansson; Wei Ren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Multi-agent systems are interconnected control systems with many application domains. The first part of this thesis considers nonlinear multi-agent systems, where the control input can be decoupled into a product of a nonlinear gain function depending only on the agent's own state, and a nonlinear interaction function depending on the relative states of the agent's neighbors. 3. 3. Transport of sodium and protons in the human placenta. Mechanisms in normal pregnancy and alterations in intrauterine growth restriction

    Author : Martin Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; placenta; Na K ATPase; Na H exchanger; H K ATPase; intrauterine growth restriction; BeWo cells; epithelial transport;

    Abstract : The syncytiotrophoblast cell of the human placenta represents the interface between maternal and fetal blood supplies. This polarized epithelium consists of a maternal facing microvillous membrane (MVM) opposing a fetal facing basal membrane (BM). This unique syncytial cell is responsible for transfer of all nutrients to the developing fetus. READ MORE

  4. 4. Limit theorems for generalizations of GUE random matrices

    Author : Martin Bender; Kurt Johansson; Arno Kuijlaars; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Random matrices; Central limit theorem; Dyson s Brownian motion; Interacting diffusion; Point process; Non-Hermitian; Scaling limit; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of two papers devoted to the asymptotics of random matrix ensembles and measure valued stochastic processes which can be considered as generalizations of the Gaussian unitary ensemble (GUE) of Hermitian matrices H=A+A†, where the entries of A are independent identically distributed (iid) centered complex Gaussian random variables. In the first paper, a system of interacting diffusing particles on the real line is studied; special cases include the eigenvalue dynamics of matrix-valued Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes (Dyson's Brownian motion).
