  1. 1. Unconventional Monetary Policy at the International, National and Local Level

    Author : Martin Nordström; Pär Österholm; Niclas Kreuger; Lars Hultkrantz; Jesper Lindé; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Bayesian VAR; Cointegration; Forecast evaluation; Municipal debt; Spread; Stochastic volatility; Sveriges Riksbank; Time-varying parameters; Unconventional monetary policy;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on four essays. The first investigates time-variation in the relationship between short interest rates and consumption in the USA and Sweden. Results based on Bayesian VAR models indicate that the short rate ceased to respond to consumption shocks when constrained by the zero lower bound. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Interactive Dynamics of Regulation : Exploring the Council of Europe's Monitoring of Ukraine

    Author : Anders Nordström; Jan Hallenberg; Karl Magnus Johansson; Martin Marcussen; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : In a time when a host of new and untested democracies seek membership in international organisations founded on liberal norms, the question of how to include new members without jeopardizing community values has become of growing concern, particularly as the regulation of practices in sovereign states often relies on soft moral or political commitment rather than on hard legal obligation. The Council of Europe’s (CoE) monitoring of new members after entry represents a soft method of socialising newcomers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Polymeric Nanoparticles as Carriers for Antimicrobial Peptides : Factors Affecting Peptide and Membrane Interactions

    Abstract : As resistance towards conventional antibiotics is becoming more pronounced, cationic antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have received considerable attention as possible therapeutic alternatives. Thousands of potent AMPs occur in humans, animals, plants and fungi as a natural part of the immune system. READ MORE

  4. 4. Summation-by-parts formulations for flow problems

    Author : Fredrik Laurén; Jan Nordström; Andrew Ross Winters; Martin Kronbichler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Many problems in engineering and physics can be described by partial differential equations (PDEs). Augmented with proper initial and boundary conditions, the PDE forms an initial-boundary value problem (IBVP). An IBVP is said to be well-posed if a unique solution bounded by the given data exists. 5. 5. Decision-making in SME internationalization : The role and use of Control in decisions made under the uncertainties of foreign market expansion

    Abstract : Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make the backbone of virtually all economies but most of them are only marginally engaged with global markets, particularly those from developing countries. Our ability to advise these firms is currently limited for two major reasons: on the one hand, conventional International Business literature treats the firm as a black box and does not advance in decision-making dynamics that are critical to SMEs' foreign expansion; on the other, recent SME internationalization studies have achieved important progress but seem dependent on the use of Effectuation theory to represent the decisions that guide SME internationalization.
