1. Industrial Digital Fabrication Using Inkjet Technology
Abstract : The use of acoustic waves initiated by the deformation of a microchannel is one method for generating monodisperse, micrometer-sized droplets from small orifices and is employed in piezo-electric inkjet printheads. These printheads are used in both graphical printing and digital fabrication, where functionalities, such as optical, biological, electrical or mechanical, are being produced locally. READ MORE

2. Three-wave mixing in Josephson travelling-wave parametric amplifiers
Abstract : This work explores possibilities of building a wide-band, quantum-limited low-noise amplifier by means of three-wave mixing (3WM) in different kinds of Josephson travelling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs). We extend the theory of the continuous three-mode model to include any number of up-converted modes in the small frequency limit where the frequency dispersion is close to linear. READ MORE

3. Methods for Visually Guided Robotic Systems : Matching, Tracking and Servoing
Abstract : This thesis deals with three topics; Bayesian tracking, shape matching and visual servoing. These topics are bound together by the goal of visual control of robotic systems. The work leading to this thesis was conducted within two European projects, COSPAL and DIPLECS, both with the stated goal of developing artificial cognitive systems. READ MORE

4. Quantum chemical studies of deposition and catalytic surface reactions
Abstract : Quantum chemical calculations have been used to model chemical reactions in epitaxial growth of silicon carbide by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes and to study heterogeneous catalytic reactions for methanol synthesis. CVD is a common method to produce high-quality materials and e.g. READ MORE

5. THz Ultra-wideband Passive Devices: Design, Simulation and Characterization
Abstract : The last decades have seen an increasing interest in the THz research field, leading to a substantial improvement in technology and the emergence of new applications. In particular, the research on radio astronomy instrumentation has pushed millimeter and sub-millimeter technology boundaries and redefined state of the art. READ MORE
