1. Representation of Quantum Algorithms with Symbolic Language and Simulation on Classical Computer
2. The Double Obstacle Problem on Metric Spaces
Abstract : During the last decade, potential theory and p-harmonic functions have been developed in the setting of doubling metric measure spaces supporting a p-Poincar´e inequality. This theory unifies, and has applications in several areas of analysis, such as weighted Sobolev spaces, calculus on Riemannian manifolds and Carnot groups, subelliptic differential operators and potential theory on graphs. 3. High order summation-by-parts based approximations for discontinuous and nonlinear problems
Abstract : Numerical approximations using high order finite differences on summation-byparts (SBP) form are investigated for discontinuous and fully nonlinear systems of partial differential equations. Stability and conservation properties of the approximations are obtained through a weak imposition of interface and boundary conditions with the simultaneous-approximation-term (SAT) technique. 4. Towards an All-Embracing Elliptic Solver in 2D
Abstract : This thesis addresses solving elliptic partial differential equation using integral equation methods, with emphasis on accuracy, speed and stability. Of particular interest are such equations on non-smooth domains, and several different elliptic problems such as electrostatic and elastostatic ones are treated and solved in this setting... 5. Conservation Laws, Numerical Schemes and Control Strategies for Sedimentation and Wastewater Treatment
Abstract : A consistent theme throughout this thesis is quasilinear partial differential equations (PDEs) appearing in one-dimensional models of sedimentation for solid-liquid separation of suspensions. We mainly focus on continuous sedimentation in so-called clarifier-thickeners (CTs), which are found in mineral processing and wastewater treatment. READ MORE
