  1. 11. Improved mapping of steel recycling from an industrial perspective

    Author : Alicia Gauffin; Anders Tilliander; Ichiro Daigo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Recycling rate; lifetime; steel scrap; scrap reserve; dynamic material flow modelling; environmental analysis; greenhouse gas emissions; energy; alloy content; forecasting; backcasting; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The results from this study show that it is possible to obtain data series on the steel scrap collection based on mass balance model on the crude steel production figures by steelmaking reactor type and additional knowledge on process metallurgy as well as information on inputs and outputs into the reactors with an area correlation coefficient of 0,91 compared to data obtained from trade statistics. Furthermore, the study shows that based on a new method it is possible to calculate the time duration of mass flows on a continuous basis. READ MORE

  2. 12. Characterization of (Ba,Sr)TiO3 thin films for multiplier applications

    Author : Pär Rundqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; BSTO; THz; triplers; powerhandling capability; multilayer structures; frequency multipliers; Ferroelectric; BST; losses; Varactor; STO;

    Abstract : (Ba,Sr)TiO3 (BSTO) and SrTiO3 (STO) parallel plate ferroelectric varactors are investigated for microwave multiplier applications.STO and BSTO exhibit low losses, high permittivity and largetunability of both permittivity and losses. All films are deposited using Pulsed Laser Deposition, magnetron sputtering and E-beam evaporation. READ MORE

  3. 13. Mesoporous transition metal oxides for oxygen electrocatalysis in energy conversion technologies

    Author : Zhixing Wu; Emma Björk; Magnus Odén; Mikhail Vagin; Freddy Kleitz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Electrocatalysis, the foundation of electrical to chemical energy transformation, enables the mitigation of the electrical energy losses during reactions and the control of selectivity of the process to certain chemical products. The slow rate and the multi-step complexity of oxygen-associated reactions, namely oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), motivate the use of platinum group metals (PGM) catalysts, which significantly increase the price of the technologies due to the cost and scarcity of PGM-based materials. 4. 14. Assessment of Long-Term Losses in Prestressed Concrete Structures - Application for Nuclear Reactor Containments

    Author : Peter Lundqvist; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; KstrConcrete; Nuclear reactor containments; prestressed concrete; prestress losses; bonded tendons; creep; shrinkage; relaxation; prediction models; resonance frequency; acoustoelasticity.;

    Abstract : Most nuclear reactors, both in Sweden and worldwide, are enclosed by a prestressed concrete containment. The main purpose of the containment is to prevent any radioactive discharge to the environment in the event of a major internal accident. READ MORE

  5. 15. The Influence of Energy Levels on Voltage Losses and Charge Generation in Organic Solar Cells

    Author : Jianwei Yu; Feng Gao; Olle Inganäs; Niclas Solin; Christoph J. Brabec; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Organic solar cells (OSCs) are a next-generation photovoltaic technology that convert solar energy to electrical energy. They have attracted great attention due to their advantages of low cost, ease of synthesis, light weight, mechanical flexibility, and roll-to-roll processability. READ MORE
