  1. 16. Homogenization of pseudoparabolic reaction-diffusion-mechanics systems : Multiscale modeling, well-posedness and convergence rates

    Author : Arthur J. Vromans; Adrian Muntean; Claudia Timofte; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Reaction-diffusion-mechanics system; parameter delimitation; parabolic-pseudoparabolic equations; weak solvability; Rothe method; periodic homogenization; corrector estimates; vanishing thin domains; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : In this dissertation, parabolic-pseudoparabolic equations are proposed to couple chemical reactions, diffusion, flow and mechanics in heterogeneous materials using the framework of mixture theory. The weak solvability is obtained in a one dimensional setting for the full system posed in a homogeneous domain - a formulation which we have obtained using the classical mixture theory. READ MORE

  2. 17. On the Extension and Wedge Product of Positive Currents

    Author : Ahmad Khalid Al Abdulaali; Jan-Erik Björk; Hassine El Mir; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Closed positive currents; plurisubharmonic currents; plurisubharmonic functions; pluripolar sets; k-convex functions; wedge product of currents; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : This dissertation is concerned with extensions and wedge products of positive currents. Our study can be considered as a generalization for classical works done earlier in this field. Paper I deals with the extension of positive currents across different types of sets. READ MORE

  3. 18. Snow removal routing problems : theory and applications

    Author : Gholamreza Razmara; Oli Madsen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : The focus of this dissertation is on constructing optimization models and developing solution methods for Snow Removal Routing Problems with Time V\lindows. Two cases, after and during snowfall, are studied. READ MORE

  4. 19. On the Ising problem and some matrix operations

    Author : Daniel Andrén; Roland Häggkvist; Henrik Eriksson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ising problem; phase tansition; matrix multiplicatoin; matrix inversion; Discrete mathematics; Diskret matematik;

    Abstract : The first part of the dissertation concerns the Ising problem proposed to Ernst Ising by his supervisor Wilhelm Lenz in the early 20s. The Ising model, or perhaps more correctly the Lenz-Ising model, tries to capture the behaviour of phase transitions, i.e. how local rules of engagement can produce large scale behaviour. READ MORE

  5. 20. Optimization of Just-in-Time Sequencing Problems and Supply Chain Logistics

    Author : Gyan Thapa; Sergei Silvestrov; Anatoliy Malyarenko; George Fodor; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Just-in-time; JIT sequencing; apportionment; product rate variation; output rate variation; algorithms; heuristics; supply chain; logistics; queueing; non-linear integer programming; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a comprehensive and comparative progress in sequencing approaches of mixed-model just-in-time (JIT) sequencing problem together with discrete apportioment problem (DAP). The goal of JIT sequencing problem (JITSP) is to keep the rate of usage of parts as constant as possible along the assembly lines, and the goal of DAP is to divide a given integer number of delegates proportionally among the states or the parties according to their population or votes.
