21. Mathematical models of social norms and petty corruption
Abstract : Corruption is a problem all around the world, but the extent of the problem varies between countries and situations. In this thesis, I focus on how corruption levels can change when they are culturally determined. For this reason, I study the dynamics of the cultural underpinnings: social norms and conventions. 22. Road profile statistics relevant for vehicle fatigue
Abstract : Road profiles are studied from a vehicle fatigue point of view. A wide range of roads have been measured: from smooth motorways to very rough gravel roads. It is observed that the road profiles consist of irregular sections, which makes the stationary Gaussian model unsuitable (Paper A). READ MORE

25. Railway traffic disturbance management
Abstract : With the increasing traffic volumes in many railway networks and reports on capacity deficiencies that result in insufficient punctuality and reliability, the need for efficient disturbance management solutions becomes evident. This thesis focuses on solutions that aim to minimise the consequences of disturbances for the various stakeholders and specifically on methods for re-scheduling the traffic. READ MORE
