  1. 1. Leukocyte-derived matrix metalloproteinase-9 in patients with coronary artery disease : Associations with psychological stress and glucocorticoid sensitivity

    Author : Simon Jönsson; Lena Jonasson; Anna Lundberg; Magnus Bäck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Inflammation is closely associated with development of atherosclerosis. The proteolytic enzyme matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 is considered to play a prominent role in this process. MMP-9 has also been introduced as a marker for plaque vulnerability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Interleukin-17 in models of neutrophilic lung disease

    Author : Stefan Ivanov; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Interleukin-17; Interleukin-23; Matrix metalloproteinase-9; neutrophils; macrophages; CD4 cells; innate response; lungs;

    Abstract : Several acute or chronic lung disorders like adult respiratory distress syndrome, acute severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic lung allograft rejection and cystic fibrosis, are associated with signs of an excess innate response in the bronchoalveolar space. Neutrophils may play a pathogenic role in these lung diseases by contributing to non-specific bronchial hyperresponsiveness and bronchial hypersecretion, as well as to epithelial damage and tissue remodelling. 3. 3. Inflammatory Markers, Respiratory Diseases, Lung Function and Associated Gender Differences

    Author : Inga Sif Ólafsdóttir; Christer Janson; Anders Blomberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; C-reactive protein; matrix metalloproteinase-9; tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1; COPD; FEV1; FVC; lung function; systemic inflammation; gender differences; Lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Abstract : Systemic inflammation is associated with impaired lung function. Inflammation is part of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but the local and systemic inflammatory pattern differs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Migration on extracellular matrix surface and infiltration into matrix - two distinguishable activities of human T cells

    Author : Jyrki Ivanoff; Karl-Gösta Sundqvist; Joachim Lundahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; extracellular matrix; fibronectin; collagen type IV; laminin; neuropeptide; chemokine; TIMP-1; MMP-9; T cells; Migration; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi;

    Abstract : Migration of T-lymphocytes on a surface coated with extracellular matrix (ECM) components (two-dimensional (2-D) migration) and migration (infiltration) into a matrix (Three-dimesional (3-D) migration) are complex events and the underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood. Here 2-D and 3-D migration were studied by use of seven leukemic T-cell lines representing discrete differentiation stages, a non-leukemic T-cell clone, and normal peripheral blood T cells. 5. 5. Plasma levels of matrix metalloproteinase‐9 in a normal population : a psychoneuroendocrinological approach

    Author : Peter Garvin; Margareta Kristenson; John Carstensen; Lena Jonasson; Annika Rosengren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Several large‐scale epidemiological studies have demonstrated the prognostic significance of psychosocial factors and stress for coronary artery disease (CAD). Observations of sudden changes in CAD incidence have led to the proposal of mechanisms regarding atherosclerotic plaque vulnerability. READ MORE
