  1. 6. Heck Reactions with Aryl Chlorides : Studies of Regio- and Stereoselectivity

    Author : Gopal K. Datta; Mats Larhed; Anders Hallberg; Martin Oestreich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heck reaction; aryl chloride; vinyl ether; regioselective; stereoselective; palladium; chelation control; microwave; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Homogeneous palladium-catalyzed Heck vinylation of aryl chlorides was investigated under air using Herrmann’s palladacycle and the P(t-Bu)3-liberating salt [(t-Bu)3PH]BF4. Based on the results, controlled microwave heating was utilized to accelerate model Heck reactions with aryl chlorides down to 30 min employing an electron-poor olefin and a mixture of an ionic liquid and 1,4-dioxane as solvent. 2. 7. Inhibitors Targeting Insulin-Regulated Aminopeptidase (IRAP) : Identification, Synthesis and Evaluation

    Author : Karin Engen; Mats Larhed; Mikael Elofsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; compound screening; insulin-regulated aminopeptidase; IRAP; inhibitors; cognitive disorders; spiro-oxindole; quinazolinone; imidazopyridine; medicinal chemistry; structure-activity relationship; microwave heating; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Insulin-regulated aminopeptidase (IRAP) has emerged as a potential new therapeutic target for treatment of cognitive disorders. Inhibition of the enzymatic activity facilitates cognition in rodents. READ MORE

  3. 8. Novel Metal-Mediated Organic Transformations : Focusing on Microwave Acceleration and the Oxidative Heck Reaction

    Author : Per-Anders Enquist; Mats Larhed; Anders Hallberg; Troels Skrydstrup; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Organic chemistry; palladium II ; oxidative Heck reaction; high-throughput-chemistry; microwave acceleration; dicobalt octacarbonyl; in situ carbonylation; urea; diaryl ketones; ESI-MS; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Transition metals have played an important role in synthetic organic chemistry for more than a century, and offer catalytic transformations that would have been impossible with classical chemistry. One of the most useful and versatile of the transition metals is palladium, which over the years has catalyzed many important carbon-carbon forming reactions. READ MORE

  4. 9. Palladium(II)-Catalyzed Heck Reactions : Domino Reactions, Decarboxylations, Mechanistic Studies & Continuous Flow Applications

    Author : Ashkan Fardost; Mats Larhed; Patrick Guiry; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium II ; dft; reaction mechanisms; esi-ms; heck; decarboxylation; microwave; continuous flow;

    Abstract : This thesis describes research efforts dedicated to the development of palladium(II)-catalyzed oxidative Heck and Heck/Suzuki domino reactions, and the applications of a new microwave heating technology, purpose-built for continuous flow in organic synthesis.Paper I describes the development of a ligand-modulated approach for attaching aryl groups to a chelating vinyl ether. 5. 10. Design and Synthesis of Enzyme Inhibitors Against Infectious Diseases : Targeting Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease and Mycobacterium tuberculosis Ribonucleotide Reductase

    Author : Johan Gising; Mats Larhed; Anders Karlén; Victor Snieckus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Infectious diseases, including hepatitis C and tuberculosis, claim the lives of over 15 million people each year. Hepatitis C is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) which infects the liver and can ultimately result in liver transplantation. HCV is very adaptive as a result of its high mutation rate. READ MORE
