1. Bridging McMurry and Wittig in One-Pot : Olefins from Stereoselective, Reductive Couplings of Two Aldehydes via Phosphaalkenes
Abstract : The formation of C=C bonds is of great importance for fundamental and industrial synthetic organic chemistry. There are many different methodologies for the construction of C=C bonds in the literature, but currently only the McMurry reaction allows the reductive coupling of two carbonyl compounds to form alkenes. 2. Olefins from carbonyls : Development of new phosphorus-based cross-coupling reactions
Abstract : Olefins, compounds containing C=C double bonds, are omnipresent in nature and serve as useful starting materials for various chemical modifications. Olefins are of crucial importance in Medicinal Chemistry and are also present in essential objects like dyes, polymers and plastics. READ MORE

3. Application of metalation reactions for synthesis of sulfur/selenium-containing heterocyclic compounds
Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with the synthesis of various sulfur/selenium-containing heterocyclic compounds, many of which include structural features present in several biologically active molecules, with particular emphasis on compounds of synthetic importance, such as indoles, as well as other heteroaromatic species. In the first part, an efficient procedure toward synthesis of new 3-(arylthio)indoles based on reactions of aryl Grignard reagents or lithiated heteroaromatics with protected 3,3′-dithiobisindoles is described. 4. Novel Organophosphorus Compounds for Materials and Organic Synthesis
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the development of new organophosphorus compounds for potential uses in material science and as reagents in Organic Chemistry. Organophosphorus compounds in a single molecule or organic electronics context are appealing as the phosphorous centers perturb the electronic properties of the π-conjugated systems while at the same time provide synthetic handles for subsequent synthetic modifications.
