6. Quantitative equilibrium calculations on systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting
Abstract : The present thesis gives a summary of results obtained through theoretical and experimental studies of systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting. Many chemical elements are involved in the copper production processes and a detailed experimental study would be very time- consuming and expensive. 7. Development of Fischer-Tropsch catalysis for gasified biomass
Abstract : In order to secure the energy supply to an increasing population and at the same time limit the damage to Earth, i.e. avoiding a fatal climate change as a result of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (primarily CO2), immediate action is necessary. READ MORE

8. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission
Abstract : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems. 9. Translational termination, frameshift and ribosome assembly
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study components involved in translational termination. Most of the work is centered around this, but the outcome of some of the experiments, led me onto other paths too.Firstly, isolation of a mutant which was shown to be in release factor one, was mapped to min 26,5 on the Escherichia coli chromosome. 10. Project management ontology : the organizational learning perspective
Abstract : In a recent interview with the Financial Times, the chief executive of Royal Dutch Shell, Mr. Jeroen van der Veer, said he “keeps faith in ‘elephant’ projects” referring to the Russian gas mega-project that Shell had fallen eight months behind schedule with and had cost overruns twice the original estimate. Mr. READ MORE
