6. Undrained shear strength in clay slopes - Influence of stress conditions. A model and field test study
Abstract : To counteract natural hazards such as landslides, current methods for evaluation of soil properties as a mean for determining the safety level of natural slopes need to be refined. The empirical relationships used for estimation of the undrained shear strength from piezocone and field vane test are based on the stress conditions valid for horizontal ground and normally consolidated or slightly overconsolidated soil. 7. The Optimal trigger speed of vehicle activated signs
Abstract : The thesis aims to elaborate on the optimum trigger speed for Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) and to study the effectiveness of VAS trigger speed on drivers’ behaviour. Vehicle activated signs (VAS) are speed warning signs that are activated by individual vehicle when the driver exceeds a speed threshold. READ MORE

8. Non-Linear Canonical Methods in Strongly Correlated Electron Systems
Abstract : In this thesis some new ideas to perform the analysis of Strongly Correlated Electronic Systems (SCES) are developed. In particular the use of non-linear canonical transformations is considered thoroughly. READ MORE

9. Registered nurses' research use : A national survey on extent, patterns, intentions and associated factors in undergraduate education and the first years of clinical practice
Abstract : The gap between research and practice is well-known and has been addressed globally. The application of research-based knowledge in clinical practice has the potential to improve care quality and patient safety. READ MORE

10. Vibration mitigation of high-speed railway bridges : Application of damping devices in theory and practice
Abstract : The dynamic response of railway bridges is an important aspect to consider, as the repetitive loading from passing trains may result in excessive vibrations of the bridge deck. Several design criteria are developed in order to assure the structural safety and passenger comfort during train crossings of a bridge. READ MORE
