  1. 1. A pulsed TV holography system for the study of transients in experimental mechanics

    Author : Per Gren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Experimental Mechanics; Experimentell mekanik;

    Abstract : An all-electronic system for pulsed holographic interferometry called pulsed TV holography is developed. This is a whole-field non-contacting optical measurement method suitable for studies of transient events like wave propagation in solids and fluids. READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation of iron ore pellets and powder flow using smoothed particle method

    Author : Gustaf Gustafsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Handling of iron ore pellets is an important part in the converting process for LKAB. Knowledge about this sub process is very important for further efficiency progress and increased product quality. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling and simulation of plastic deformation on small scales : interface conditions and size effects of thin films

    Author : Per Fredriksson; Peter Gudmundson; Christian Niordson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strain gradient plasticity; Size effects; Thin films; Interface; Finite element method; Dislocations; Constitutive behaviour; Hardening behaviour; Indentation; Contact mechanics; Metal matrix composites; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Contrary to elastic deformation, plastic deformation of crystalline materials, such as metals, is size-dependent. Most commonly, this phenomenon is present but unnoticed, such as the effect of microstructural length scales. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multiscale modeling of ductile fracture in solids

    Author : Erik Svenning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Ductile fracture occurs in many situations of engineering relevance, for example metal cutting and crashworthiness applications, where the fracture process is important to understand and predict. Increased understanding can be gained by using multiscale modeling, where the effective response of the material is computed from microscale simulations on Statistical Volume Elements (SVEs) 1 containing explicit models for the nucleation and propagation of microscopic cracks. 5. 5. Solids flows in circulating fluidized beds: explorations of phenomena with applications to boilers

    Author : Tove Djerf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solids flow; fluidization; scaling; circulating fluidized bed boiler; fluid dynamics;

    Abstract : The circulating fluidized bed (CFB), which is a technology that is commonly used in the heat and power sector, efficiently converts renewable and/or and low-grade solid fuels, such as biomass and biogenic waste fractions. CFB units serve also as a technological platform for carbon capture processes (combustion by oxy-firing or chemical looping), which are foreseen to play a key role in the transition of the energy system towards decreased atmospheric CO2 emissions.
