  1. 1. Is the medium the message? The impact of digital media on the newspaper concept

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Sara Leckner; KTH.; [2007]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Newspaper publishing; newspaper industry; strategy; convergence; new media; digital media; electronic media; display technology; media technology; presentation-style; user interface; newspaper layout; reading behaviour; perception; newspaper consumption; consumer needs; SOCIAL SCIENCES Other social sciences Media and communication studies; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Övrig samhällsvetenskap Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : The impact of digital (new) media has caused both challenges and threats to newspapers’ continuing existence as a profitable and influential mass medium. While this is not the first time in history that new media appear to be challenging the future of the newspaper medium, from one perspective digital media offer not only direct competition, or alternative ways to produce and deliver news, but also possibilities for convergence, for making new media part of the traditional newspaper, inducing whole new possibilities for publishing. 2. 2. Media Convergence and Digital News Services

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Medieteknik och grafisk prodduktion

    Author : Ester Appelgren; KTH.; [2007]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES Other social sciences Media and communication studies; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Övrig samhällsvetenskap Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap; Media convergence; newspaper production; online newspaper;

    Abstract : In this thesis, media convergence strategies and added value of digital news services are investigated, focusing on the newspaper industry and it’s audience. Convergence implies that previously unalike areas come together, approaching a common goal. A subordinate concept of convergence, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. Homogenization of Some Selected Elliptic and Parabolic Problems Employing Suitable Generalized Modes of Two-Scale Convergence

    University dissertation from Östersund : Mittuniversitetet

    Author : Jens Persson; Mittuniversitetet.; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; H-convergence; G-convergence; homogenization; multiscale analysis; two-scale convergence; multiscale convergence; elliptic partial differential equations; parabolic partial differential equations; monotone operators; heterogeneous media; non-periodic media; MATHEMATICS Algebra; geometry and mathematical analysis Mathematical analysis; MATEMATIK Algebra; geometri och analys Analys;

    Abstract : The present thesis is devoted to the homogenization of certain elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations by means of appropriate generalizations of the notion of two-scale convergence. Since homogenization is defined in terms of H-convergence, we desire to find the H-limits of sequences of periodic monotone parabolic operators with two spatial scales and an arbitrary number of temporal scales and the H-limits of sequences of two-dimensional possibly non-periodic linear elliptic operators by utilizing the theories for evolution-multiscale convergence and ?-scale convergence, respectively, which are generalizations of the classical two-scale convergence mode and custom-made to treat homogenization problems of the prescribed kinds. 5. 5. FASHIONABLE POLITICS The discursive construction of ethical consumerism in corporate communications, news media, and social media

    University dissertation from Östersund : Mittuniversitetet

    Author : Johanna Arnesson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2018]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; ethical consumerism; neoliberalism; political brand cultures; consumer culture; critical discourse analysis;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the discursive construction of ethical consumerism – a notion that encompasses both ‘conscious’ consumption choices and responsible’ corporate activities – in mediated discourses about fashion and clothing consumption in Sweden. Drawing on the discourse-historical approach within critical discourse analysis, the study provides an empirical examination of discursive elements in corporate communications, newspapers, and social media, which construct the market as the best solution to social injustice and climate change.
