  1. 1. Peacemaking Up Close : Explaining Mediator Styles of International Mediators

    Author : Mathilda Lindgren; Desirée Nilsson; Anders Themnér; Kyle Beardsley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; mediator; mediation; mediator style; negotiation; armed conflict; peace; IGO; NGO; survey experiment; interviews; Peace and Conflict Research; Freds- och konfliktforskning;

    Abstract : Scholarly work on international mediation suggests that how third parties mediate influences the resolution of armed conflicts. However, our understanding of what explains mediator style is limited. This dissertation addresses this gap by offering the first systematic study on explanations for mediator styles at the level of the individual. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ḥusayn, the Mediator : A structural Analysis of the Karbalā´ Drama according to Abū Ja`far Muḥammad b. Jarīr al-Ṭabarī (d. 310/923)

    Author : Torsten Hylén; Mattias Gardell; Gudmar Aneer; Ingvild Saelid Gilhus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Religion; Historiography; History and myth; History; Husayn Ibn Ali 629C–680 ; Islam; Karbala Iraq ; Levi-Strauss Claude; Mediator theology ; Myth; Shiites; Structuralism; Tabari 838C–923; Religionsvetenskap Teologi; History Of Religions; religionshistoria;

    Abstract : The present study has a twofold purpose: Firstly, it is an analysis of the Karbalā´ Drama—i.e. the death of Ḥusayn b. `Alī in the hands of an army which had been sent out by the Umayyad authorities, at Karbalā´ in 60/680—as it is retold by the Muslim jurist and historiographer Abū Ja`far Muḥammad b. 3. 3. Functional studies of Mediator in Arabidopsis thaliana and Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Nils Elfving; Stefan Björklund; Jesper Svejstrup; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transcriptional regulation; chromatin; stress; Pol II; mediator; DREB2A; ZFHD1; MYB-like; Msn2; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Mediator has been shown to be essential for regulation of RNA Polymerase II mediated transcription. Mediator functions as an interface between the general transcriptional machinery and a multitude of DNA binding transcriptional regulators, although the molecular mechanism for the process is elusive. 4. 4. Mediator and its role in non-coding RNA and chromatin regualtion

    Author : Jonas O P Carlsten; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mediator; transcription; centromere; telomere; tRNA; exosome;

    Abstract : Mediator is a multiprotein complex required for the regulation of RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) transcription. Mediator transmits regulatory signals from activators and repressors to the Pol II machinery at the promoter, but the complex has also many other functions related to control of gene transcription. 5. 5. Dynamics of protein folding and subunit interactions in assembly of the yeast mediator complex

    Author : Zaki Shaikhibrahim; Stefan Björklund; Bengt-Harald Jonsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : mediator; transcriptional regulation; assembly; folding; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The Mediator complex was originally discovered in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and has since then been shown to be required for transcriptional regulation both in vitro and in vivo. The Mediator complex also stimulates basal, unregulated transcription and serves as a bridge by conveying signals from promoter-bound transcriptional regulatory proteins such as activators and repressors to the RNA Polymerase II general transcriptional machinery.
