  1. 16. Occupant Neck Muscle Modelling in Rear-End Crashes

    Author : I Putu Alit Putra; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active Neck Muscle Responses; Finite Element; Whiplash Associated Disorders; Female; Human Body Model;

    Abstract : The ultimate goal of the present research is to incorporate active and passive neck muscle effects in a female Finite Element (FE) Human Body Model (HBM). The application of interest is Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD), which can occur in a low-speed rear-end impact. READ MORE

  2. 17. The Physical Axon : Modeling, Simulation and Electrode Evaluation

    Author : Malcolm Latorre; Karin Wårdell; Göran Salerud; Ulrich Hofmann; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Electrodes are used in medicine for detection of biological signals and for stimulating tissue, e.g. in deep brain stimulation (DBS). For both applications, an understanding of the functioning of the electrode, and its interface and interaction with the target tissue involved is necessary. READ MORE

  3. 18. Attenuation of hand-held machine vibrations. Application of non-linear tuned vibration absorber

    Author : Hans Lindell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Impact machine; Hand-arm vibration; High frequency vibration; ATVA; Nonlinear tuned vibration absorber; White finger; HAVS; Transient vibration; Auto Tuned Vibration Absorber; Vibration dynamics; ISO 5349;

    Abstract : Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from vibrating hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injuries to the operator. The objective with this study is to contribute to reduce hand-arm vibration injuries, first by developing methods of redesigning machines that will lower their vibration level and second to study how high frequency vibrations (HFV) above 1250 Hz effect the finger tissue which are not included in the current standard for risk evaluation. Abstract : The organisation of fluids in small compartments is ubiquitous in nature, such as in the cellular composition of all life. This work explores several engineering avenues where microscale fluid compartmentalization can bring novel material properties or novel functionality in life sciences or medicine. READ MORE

  5. 20. Calibration and Modelling of Adipose Tissue Under Impact Loading

    Author : Hosein Naseri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Vehicular injury is one of the main reasons for traumatic injuries. Finite Element HumanBody Models (FEHBM) have become very popular to assess car crashes and the subsequentinjuries. It provides the possibility to predict stress and strain values in tissue level byrepresenting anatomical structures in details. READ MORE
