  1. 1. A Novel Oil-immersed Medium Frequency Transformer for Offshore HVDC Wind Farms

    Author : Mohammad Kharezy; Per Olof Hedekvist; Yuriu Serdyuk; Thomas Hammarström; Karsten Backhaus; RISE; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; prototype design methodology; finite element analysis; HVDC insulation design; medium frequency transformer; Wind energy; DC-DC power converters;

    Abstract : In this project, a design of an oil type medium frequency transformer for offshore wind farm applications is proposed. The design is intended for applications when series coupling of the output of the DC/DC converters of the wind turbine on their secondary side is done to achieve a cost-effective high voltage solution for collecting energy from offshore wind parks. 2. 2. High Voltage DC-biased Oil Type Medium Frequency Transformer; A Green Solution for Series DC Wind Park Concept

    Author : Mohammad Kharezy; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High voltage DC; Insulation design; Offshore wind farm; Leakage inductance; High power isolated DC DC converter; Dual active bridge; Medium-frequency power transformer; Parasitic capacitance; HVDC;

    Abstract : The electric energy generated by remote offshore wind parks is transported to the consumers using high voltage submarine cables. On the generation site, such transmissions are realized today by collecting the energy produced by several wind turbines in a bulky and expensive transformer placed on a dedicated platform. 3. 3. Design and Optimization Considerations of Medium-Frequency Power Transformers in High-Power DC-DC Applications

    Author : Amin Bahmani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanocrystalline-Magnetic Core; High-Power Isolated DC-DC Converter; Solid-State Transformers; Leakage Inductance; Isolation Requirements; Medium-Frequency Power Transformer;

    Abstract : Recently, power electronic converters are considered as one of the enabling technologies that can address many technical challenges in future power grids from the generation phase to the transmission and consequently distribution at different voltage levels. In contrast to the medium-power converters (5 to 100 kW) which have beenessentially investigated by the automotive and traction applications, megawatt and medium-voltage range isolated converters with a several kilohertz isolation stage,also called solid-state transformers (SST), are still in an expansive research phase. 4. 4. Modeling of losses in power transformers from dc to the low kilohertz range

    Author : Julius Krah; Göran Engdahl; Roland Eriksson; Anthony Moses; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical power technology; power transformer; losses; magnetic hysteresis; magnetic measurement systems; medium frequency; eddy currents; skin effect; thermal diffusion; Elkraftteknik; Electric power engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : The development of HVDC converters, local generation and tractions systems increases the demand for power converters. While a lot of studies have been conducted on the power electronics, there are still open questions concerning the contained power transformer that operates at a few kilohertz. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multilevel three-phase dual active bridge dc-dc converters - A study on converter modulation, capacitive energy requirement, ZVS boundaries, MFT's winding connections, and core losses

    Author : Babak Alikhanzadehalamdari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : The collection and transmission of power from offshore wind turbines using dc have advantages over the ac system. One of the enabling technologies for deploying dc collection is the dc-dc converter that boosts the dc output from the turbine to the medium-voltage dc level of the collection grid. READ MORE
