6. Ab Initio Investigation of Interfacial and Grain Boundary Properties of Metals and Alloys
Abstract : Phase interface (IF) and grain boundary (GB) are both common yet critical planar defects influencing the mechanical and physical properties of polycrystalline materials. Due to the complex nature of IFs and GBs in terms of structure and chemistry, determining the accurate excess energies associated with these defects is challenging for both experimental measurements and theoretical simulations. 7. Strontium Titanate-based Anodes for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
Abstract : The purpose for this work has been to develop new robust fuel electrodes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). The aim was to find suitable ceramic materials or composites with promising properties for the use as SOFC anodes. READ MORE

8. Optimization of Electron Beam Melting for Production of Small Components in Biocompatible Titanium Grades
Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM), also called 3D-printing, are technologies where parts are formed from the bottom up by adding material layer-by-layer on top of each other. Electron Beam Melting (EBM) is an AM technique capable of manufacturing fully solid metallic parts, using a high-intensity electron beam to melt powder particles in layers to form finished components. 9. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Semiconductor Nanowires
Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) based methods in this work. In the first section, the growth mechanism of gallium arsenide nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy is investigated. The nanowires are epitaxially grown from a gallium arsenide substrate by using gold seed particles as catalysts. READ MORE

10. Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Plasma Atomized Refractory Alloys
Abstract : Plasma centrifugal atomization is a method widely used in the production of spherical powders of metals and alloys with relatively low melting points. A novel plasma centrifugal atomization process suitable for high melting point materials (i.e. 3500 ᵒC and above) was developed by Metasphere Technology AB, currently Höganäs Sweden AB. READ MORE
