1. Inflation Mechanics of Hyperelastic Membranes
Abstract : The applications of inflatable membrane structures are increasing rapidly in the various fields of engineering and science. The geometric, material, force and contact non-linearities complicate this subject further, which in turn increases the demand for computationally efficient methods and interpretations of counter-intuitive behaviors noted by the scientific community. 2. Parametric stability analyses for fluid-loaded thin membranes
Abstract : Membrane structures are commonly used in many elds. The studies of thesestructures are of increasing interest. The two projects focus on the evaluations ofequilibrium states for uid-pressurized membranes under dierent loading conditions, and the corresponding instability behavior. READ MORE

4. Development of Methods to Investigate Pulmonary Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells under Hypoxia
Abstract : Hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV) is a physiological response to localized alveolarhypoxia that is intrinsic to the pulmonary circulation. By hypoxia-induced contractionof pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs), the pulmonary capillary bloodflow is redirected to alveolar areas of high oxygen partial pressure, thus maintaining theventilation-perfusion ratio. 5. Process Modeling of Composite Manufacturing
Abstract : The focus of this research thesis is toward developing a framework for holistic modeling of composites manufacturing of fiber reinforced structural composites. The processes that have been considered are Liquid Composite Molding (LCM) and Out Of Autoclave (OOA) processes, ranging from Liquid Resin Infusion (LRI) and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) in LCM processes, to Vacuum Bag Only (VBO) and Evac prepregs in OOA processes.
