  1. 1. Silicon-based Photonic Devices : Design, Fabrication and Characterization

    Author : Ziyang Zhang; Min Qiu; Thomas Koch; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photonic Devices; Silicon Photonics; Parallel Computation; Nanofabrication; Electron Beam Lithography; Optical Characterisation; Optics; Optik;

    Abstract : The field of Information and Communication Technologies is witnessing a development speed unprecedented in history. Moore’s law proves that the processor speed and memory size are roughly doubling each 18 months, which is expected to continue in the next decade. READ MORE

  2. 2. Memory Effects on Iron Oxide Filled Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Carlos Cava; Clas Persson; Lucimara Roman; Krister Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Memory devices; Carbon Nanotubes; energy; nanotechnology; Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : In this Licentiate Thesis, the properties and effects of iron and iron oxide filled carbon nanotube (Fe-CNT) memories are investigated using experimental characterization and quantum physical theoretical models. Memory devices based on the simple assembly of Fe-CNTs between two metallic contacts are presented as a possible application involving the resistive switching phenomena of this material. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular Electronics - Modeling, Devices and Architecture

    Author : Jonas Sköldberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular electronics; memristor; self-assembly; threshold logic; switching networks; hybrid devices; NDR; hysteresis; reconfigurable logic; nanocell;

    Abstract : Molecular electronics is an area of micro/nanoelectronics with a number of farreaching goals and challenges: denser implementation of electronic memory and logic, less expensive manufacturing, smaller or more sensitive measurement devices, selfassembly of devices and systems and, last but not least, exploring new science and applications.In recent years, molecular electronics has expanded into a broader field of molecular-scale electronics, partly because molecular components have to be defined in solid-state contexts via lithography and self-assembly, and effectively become hybrid devices with new and interesting properties. 4. 4. Multistability, Ionic Doping, and Charge Dynamics in Electrosynthesized Polypyrrole, Polymer-Nanoparticle Blend Nonvolatile Memory, and Fixed p-i-n Junction Polymer Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells

    Author : Daniel Simon; Sue Carter; Frank Bridges; J Campbell Scott; USA Santa Cruz University of California; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic electronics; polymer; light emission; biomimetics; memory;

    Abstract : A variety of factors make semiconducting polymers a fascinating alternative for both device development and new areas of fundamental research. Among these are solution processability, low cost, flexibility, and the strong dependence of conduction on the presence of charge compensating ions. READ MORE

  5. 5. If only I could sleep, maybe I could remember

    Author : Frida H Rångtell; Christian Benedict; Tiina Paunio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sleep; Memory; Learning; Motor skills; Praise; Reward; Sleep deprivation; Sex-differences; LED-screens; Circadian rhythm; Competence-based self-esteem;

    Abstract : Memory lies the ground for human cognitive skills, enabling complex social interaction, abstract thinking, and execution of precise motor skills. Development of these memory functions can be modified by several factors, including previous knowledge, reward, and sleep. READ MORE
