  1. 6. Computational Free-Surface Flows Computational Techniques for Nonlinear Seepage Flow in Porous Media with Free and Moving Boundaries

    Author : Nahidh Hamid Sharif; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear seepage flow; ICT; free boundary; LSM; CFD; two-fluid interfaces; FEM;

    Abstract : Motion of a viscous fluid interface is encountered in many physical processes in engineering applications. The accurate representation and efficient numerical solution of the fluid interface are crucial problems in simulations of the physical processes in these applications. READ MORE

  2. 7. Computational Models for Animating 3D Virtual Faces

    Author : Marco Fratarcangeli; Robert Forchheimer; Marco Schaerf; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Automatic synthesis of facial animation in Computer Graphics is a challenging task and although the problem is three decades old by now, there is still not a unified method to solve it. This is mainly due to the complex mathematical model required to reproduce the visual meanings of facial expressions coupled with the computational speed needed to run interactive applications. 3. 8. Kinematics of the heart : strain and strain-rate using time-resolved three-dimensional phase contrast MRI

    Author : Pernilla Selskog; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : During the cardiac cycle, the myocardium (heart muscle) undergoes large elastic deformations as a consequence of the active muscle contraction along the muscle :fibers and their relaxation, respectively. A four-dimensional (4D) description (three spatial dimensions + time) of the kinematics of the myocardium would bring increased understanding of the mechanical properties of the heart and may be of interest in assessing regional myocardial function. 4. 9. Development of shape optimization for internal flows

    Author : EYSTEINN HELGASON; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; internal flow; computational fluid dynamics; sensitivities; continuous adjoint method.; optimization;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of an adjoint based optimizationmethod.The goal is to develop a robust method capable of handling multipledesign variables, whereastraditional methods have shown to be too costly for many design parameters.The main application is for internal flow geometries within theautomotive industry. 5. 10. Modeling of a Free Piston Energy Converter

    Author : Jakob Fredriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Free piston engine; detailed chemistry; variable compression; computational fluid dynamics CFD ; combustion;

    Abstract : ABSTRACTThe Free Piston Energy Converter (FPEC) is a new type of automotive prime mover, offering high efficiency in conjunction with low emissions. The FPEC essentially consists of two opposing cylinders with a linear alternator incorporated in-between that produces electric power directly. READ MORE
