  1. 1. Mesoporous magnesium carbonate : Synthesis, characterization and biocompatibility

    Author : Sara Frykstrand Ångström; Maria Strømme; Johan Gómez de la Torre; Natalia Ferraz; Mika Lindén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mesoporous; magnesium carbonate; pore size control; cytotoxicity; in vivo; skin irritation; acute systemic toxicity; hemocompatibility; Ca2 uptake; solubility enhancement; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : Mesoporous materials constitute a promising class of nanomaterials for a number of applications due to their tunable pore structure. The synthesis of most mesoporous materials involves a surfactant liquid crystal structure to form the pores. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mesoporous Materials for Fast Charging Electrochemical Energy Storage

    Author : Giulio Calcagno; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrochemical energy storage; redox-active electrolytes; mesoporous carbon; hybrid supercapacitors; fast charging storage; ordered mesoporous materials; mesoporous titanium dioxide; lithium-ion battery;

    Abstract : High performing electrochemical energy storage (EES) devices are needed to cope with the increasing energy requirements of modern society. Electrode materials must store lots of energy, charge/discharge fast and be environmentally friendly. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nanostructured Catalysts and Electrode Materials for PEM Fuel Cells

    Author : Kjell Wikander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PEMFC; mesoporous; alkylthiol; alkylamine; carbon; microemulsion; Fuel cell; surfactants; nanoparticles; electron microscopy; Pt; nanocasting; silica; cathode; phase transfer method; oxygen reduction;

    Abstract : The Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is a promising energy converting technology for powering automotives and electrical equipment using hydrogen gas as fuel and producing water as the only exhaust. The active carbon-supported platinum catalyst present in the electrodes limits the maximum power generation in state-of-the-art PEMFCs due to platinum’s poor activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) taking place at the cathode. 5. 5. Transition metal ion-chelating ordered mesoporous carbons as noble metal-free fuel cell catalysts

    Author : Johanna Dombrovskis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mesoporous materials; electrocatalysis; EXAFS spectroscopy; fuel cell; transition metals; carbon;

    Abstract : Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells offer promising possibilities for clean and efficient chemical to electrical energy conversion, though their high price makes them financially unappealing. This is to a large part due to the high cost of the noble metal catalyst used in fuel cells, which makes development of new, cheap and active catalyst materials necessary. READ MORE
