  2. 17. Dynamics of Enzyme Immobilization in Mesoporous Silica Particles

    Author : Pegah Sadat Nabavi Zadeh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorescence spectroscopy; real-time monitoring.; fluorescence anisotropy; pore filling; Enzyme immobilization; mesoporous silica; kinetics; rotational mobility; rate of immobilization;

    Abstract : The focus of this thesis is placed on the dynamic behavior of proteins in confining environments which is studied as a scientific challenge for a deeper understanding of the immobilization mechanism and a better designing of enzyme immobilization in porous materials. Enzymes are immobilized in porous materials to improve the enzyme activity and simplify their purification from the product solution in biocatalytic applications. READ MORE

  3. 18. Synthesis and Characterization of Functionalized Silica Mesoporous Crystals : Cationic Surfactant and Co-structure Directing Agent System

    Author : Lu Han; Osamu Terasaki; Viveka Alfredsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mesoporous silica; Template synthesis; Functionalization; Electron microscopy; Defects; Crystal growth; Catalysis; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Abstract : This dissertation has been focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel functionalized silica mesoporous crystals by using cationic surfactant and co–structure directing agents (CSDA), the central concept of the synthesis method is to build proper organic/inorganic interactions by introducing CSDA into the synthesis system. By using cationic surfactant as template and anionic CSDA, carboxylic group functionalized mesoporous silicas were successfully synthesized. READ MORE

  4. 19. Mesoporous Silica SBA-15 - Formation, Modification and Application

    Author : Tomas Kjellman; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SBA-15; Mesoporous Silica; Intrawall pores; Colloidal Stability; Drug release; Deposition;

    Abstract : Several aspects related to the mesoporous silica material SBA-15 have been studied through the use of a wide range of experimental techniques, including low voltage high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, small angle X-ray scattering and nitrogen sorption. This work contains three parts, which are in many ways overlapping. READ MORE

  5. 20. Mesoporous Silica Particles for a Potential Therapeutic Application

    Author : Muhammad Naeem Iqbal; Niklas Hedin; Tore Bengtsson; Mirva Eriksson; Jessica Rosenholm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mesoporous silica; SBA-15; amylase; lipase; electron microscope; adsorption; type 2 diabetes; materialkemi; Materials Chemistry;

    Abstract : Mesoporous silica particles (MSPs) have a high surface area, pore volume, and tunable pore size and surface properties, which makes them ideal for advanced therapeutic, biocatalytic, separation, and drug delivery applications. The work in this thesis shows that MSPs can be employed for therapeutic applications with minimal risk of adverse consequences. READ MORE
