  1. 1. Study of precipitation in martensitic Fe-C-Cr alloys during tempering : Experiments and modelling

    Author : Ziyong Hou; Joakim Odqvist; Andersson Jörgen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fe-C-Cr alloy; Microstructure; Precipitates; Tempering of martensite; Electron microscopy; Modelling.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Understanding the precipitation reaction is very important since precipitation hardening is one of the most effective strengthening mechanisms in metallic alloys. In martensitic steels, a tempering heat treatment is often performed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys – characterization and mechanisms

    Author : Mehrdad Shahabi Navid; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EDX; CO2; XPS; Mg and MgAl alloys; NaCl; Atmospheric corrosion; Characterization; 3D imaging; SEM; BIB; Thin film; FTIR; XRD; Pitting; Interference microscopy; FIB;

    Abstract : The atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys was investigated. Corrosion tests were performed in the laboratory under controlled environment. CP Mg, AM50 and AZ91 samples were exposed at 95% RH and 22°C in the presence and in the absence of 400 ppm CO2 for 24 h to 672 h. The passive film was characterized by means of XPS, FTIR, AES and XRD. READ MORE

  3. 3. Study of Non-metallic Inclusion in Alloy 825

    Author : Hans Kellner; Andrey Karasev; Pär Jönsson; Guozhu Ye; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 825; FeTi70R alloy; non-metallic inclusions; inclusion distribution; clusters; electromagnetic and gas stirring; ladle treatment; electrolytic extraction; stirring directions; Alloy 825; FeTi70R legering; icke-metalliska inneslutningar; inneslutnings fördelning; kluster; elektromagnetisk och gas omrörning; skänkugnsbehandling; elektrolytisk extraktion; omrörningshåll; Metallurgical process science; Metallurgisk processvetenskap; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering;

    Abstract : It is well known that inclusions affect the properties of steels and alloys. Therefore, it is important to understand what type of inclusions that exist and how they behave and especially with a focus on large size inclusions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Recycling of nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries; Characterization and recovery of nickel, AB5 alloy and cobalt

    Author : Filip Holmberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; recycling; nickel; AB5 alloy; cobalt; NiMH battery; hydrogen storage alloy; leaching;

    Abstract : Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries are used today for applications that can assist in the adaptation toward carbon-neutral energy sources (i.e. hybrid vehicles and smart grids). Recovery of metals such as nickel, cobalt and rare earth elements (REEs) from discarded NiMH batteries is important for economic and/or technological reasons. READ MORE

    Abstract : Alloys have for a long time been important in the development of our society; from the Bronze Age, where man learned how to alloy copper with tin, to today, where many products are made of steel and aluminum alloys. Similarly, but maybe not as generally well known, alloys have lately been proposed as a new paradigm in nanophotonics, to tailor optical properties of nanomaterials that find applications within telecommunication, sensing, or biotechnology.
