  1. 1. Dental acrylates and methacrylates - Interactions with the immune system

    Author : Sara Alizadehgharib; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acrylates; Methacrylates; Antibodies; NLRP3 inflammasome; Cytokines; Mice; Hydrogen sulfide;

    Abstract : Professionals working in dentistry have reported adverse effects, such as allergic contact dermatitis due to exposure to different methacrylates/acrylates. Leakage of such monomers from dental fillings due to incomplete curing is also common. READ MORE

  2. 2. Contact Allergy to Acrylates

    Author : Anthony Goon; Yrkes- och miljödermatologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; volatility; stability; screening; allergic contact dermatitis; Acrylates; baseline series; contact allergy; dental; gel permeation chromatography; high performance liquid chromatography; industrial; patch testing; methacrylates;

    Abstract : Acrylate contact allergy has been frequently reported since the 1970s, with hundreds of articles published in dermatology journals so far. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the frequency of contact allergy to acrylates / methacrylates in patients with exposure to industrial, dental and nail uses of these substances. 3. 3. Synthesis and modification of monodisperse polymer particles for chromatography

    Author : Fredrik Limé; Knut Irgum; Harald D. H: Stöver; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer particles; photoinitiation; precipitation polymerization; styrene; divinylbenzene; atom transfer radical polymerization; liquid chromatography; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Liquid chromatography is an analytical technique that is constantly facing new challenges in the separation of small molecules and large biomacromolecules. Recently the development of ultra high pressure liquid chromatography has increased the demand on sturdy particles as stationary phase. READ MORE

  4. 4. Photocuring of multifunctional monomers initiated by camphorquinone / amine systems for application in dental restorative resins

    Author : Nie Jun; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Photocuring; Dental restorative resins; Photoinitiator system: Cainphorquinone amines; Monomers: Meth acrylates; Photoinitiated polymerization kinetics;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the photopolymerization of mono-, di- and trifunctional monomers initiated by carnphorquinone (CQ) alone and/or with different amines (AMH) as coinitiators in air as well in nitrogen. The kinetics of photopolymerization was measured by photoisothermal calorimetry (photo-DSC), which allowed the measurement of the rate of polymerization (Rp), maximum rate of polymerization (Rpmax), time of inhibition (tinh), time at which Rpmax was obtained (tmax), double bond conversion (p) and maximum double bond conversion (pmax). 5. 5. Synthesis, Characterisation and Properties of Biomimetic Biodegradable Polymers

    Author : Fredrik Nederberg; Tim Bowden; Nicola Tirelli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; biodegradable polymers; biomimetic; phospholipid-like; phosphorylcholine; amphiphilic; ionomer; hemocompatible; non-adhesive; water uptake; reduced protein adsorption; protein delivery; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The acceptance of blood contacting implants creating favorable conditions in vivo is decisively determined by their interaction with proteins that mediate inter cellular interactions with synthetic substrates. Adsorbed proteins can activate blood cascade systems like coagulation and complement that may result in serious blood clots, and/or immunological reactions. READ MORE
