  1. 1. Development and applications of NMR relaxation methods to study protein and ligand dynamics

    Author : Sven Wernersson; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear magnetic resonance; NMR; NMR relaxation; Method development; Protein dynamics; BRD4; Galectin 3; Kärnmagnetisk resonansspektroskopi; proteindynamik; Metodutveckling; NMR; BRD4; Galektin 3;

    Abstract : This thesis involves the study of proteins. These molecules exist in many variants, and perform most of our bodily functions. This includes signaling (for example the presence of capsaicin, which makes food spicy), molecular transport (including oxygen), catalysis (including food digestion) and part of our body structure (such as muscles). 2. 2. Method Development for Characterisation of Superalloy used in Containment Design

    Author : Ted Sjöberg; Mats Oldenburg; Jörgen Kajberg; Odd Geir Lademo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Due to the trend of increasing environmental demands put on civil aviation, manufacturersof commercial aircraft engines meet increased pressure to reduce weight. Modernturbofan engines represent up to almost one tenth of an aircraft's total weight, meaning areduction of engine component weight of just 30 kg is estimated to reduce CO2 emissionsby 400 tonnes over the lifetime of a medium sized commercial aircraft. 3. 3. Method development for isotope analysis of trace and ultra-trace elements in environmental matrices

    Author : Nicola Pallavicini; Ilia Rodushkin; Johan Ingri; Frank Vanhaecke; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : The increasing load of toxic elements entering the ecosystems, as a consequence of anthropogenic processes, has grown public awareness in the last decades, resulting in a great number of studies focusing on pollution sources, transport, distribution, interactions with living organisms and remediation. Physical/chemical processes that drive the uptake, assimilation, compartmentation and translocation of heavy metals in biota has received a great deal of attention recently, since elemental concentrations and isotopic composition in biological matrices can be used as  probes of both natural and anthropogenic sources. 4. 4. Decomposing the Option Pricing Problem : Estimating the Causal Factors: Interest Rates, Dividends, and Risk-Neutral Probabilities

    Author : Pontus Söderbäck; Jörgen Blomvall; Martin Singull; Stein-Erik Fleten; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The financial markets have an essential role in society. Further, these markets are constantly evolving. Therefore, models and methods have to be developed and adapted to the new market conditions to be useful for decisions. READ MORE

    Author : Eva Bäckström; Minna Hakkarainen; Karin Odelius; Antal Boldizar; KTH; []
    Keywords : Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Mismanagement of plastic waste is of great concern. To reach a more sustainable society, methodologies to handle materials in a more circular way needs to be developed. READ MORE
