  1. 6. Tame representations in Topological Data Analysis: decompositions, invariants and metrics

    Author : Francesca Tombari; Wojciech Chachólski; Patrizio Frosini; Peter Bubenik; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; topological data analysis; tameness; decompositions; invariants; metrics; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : This thesis is a compilation of results that can be framed within the field of applied topology. The starting point of our study is objects presenting a possibly complex intrinsic geometry. The main goal is then to simplify, without trivializing, the geometric information characterising these objects by choosing an appropriate representation. 2. 7. Real and complex Monge-Ampère equations, statistical mechanics and canonical metrics

    Author : Jakob Hultgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistical Mechanics; Point Processes; Hessian manifolds; Kähler geometry; Optimal Transport; Canonical metrics; Complex Monge-Ampère equations; Real Monge-Ampère equations; Kähler-Einstein metrics; Statistical Mechanics;

    Abstract : Recent decades has seen a strong trend in complex geometry to study canonical metrics and the way they relate to geometric analysis, algebraic geometry and probability theory. This thesis consists of four papers each contributing to this field. The first paper sets up a probabilistic framework for real Monge-Ampère equations on tori. READ MORE

  3. 8. On social interaction metrics : social network crawling based on interestingness

    Author : Fredrik Erlandsson; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : With the high use of online social networks we are entering the era of big data. With limited resources it is important to evaluate and prioritize interesting data. This thesis addresses the following aspects of social network analysis: efficient data collection, social interaction evaluation and user privacy concerns. READ MORE

  4. 9. Climate Change: Models, Metrics and Meaning Making

    Author : Erik Sterner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : This thesis, combining research in climate science and educational science, investigates different aspects of climate knowledge. It consists of five papers and covers three major topics: emission metrics, public understanding of atmospheric CO2 accumulation, and spatial modelling of natural resource use. READ MORE

  5. 10. Multipoint Okounkov bodies, strong topology of ω-plurisubharmonic functions and Kähler-Einstein metrics with prescribed singularities

    Author : Antonio Trusiani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Okounkov bodies; Seshadri constant; Kähler-Einstein metrics; Kähler Geometry; Canonical metrics; Fano manifolds; Pluripotential theory; Complex Monge-Ampère equations; Kähler packing;

    Abstract : The most classical topic in Kähler Geometry is the study of Kähler-Einstein metrics as solution of complex Monge-Ampère equations. This thesis principally regards the investigation of a strong topology for ω-plurisubharmonic functions on a fixed compact Kähler manifold (X,ω), its connection with complex Monge-Ampère equations with prescribed singularities and the consequent study of singular Kähler-Einstein metrics.
