16. Thiol-Ene CHemistry and Dopa-Functional Materials towards Biomedical Applications
Abstract : Thiol-ene chemistry is versatile and efficient and can be used as a powerful tool in polymer synthesis. In this thesis, the concept of thiol-ene chemistry has been central, where it has been explored as a tool for the synthesis of well-defined hydrogels and dopa-functional materials towards biomedical applications; such as hydrogels, primers for adhesive fixation of bone fractures, self-healing gels, and micelles for drug-delivery. 17. Polyester dendrimers for biomedical applications
Abstract : Dendrimers are perfectly defined and highly branched large molecules with a high density of functional groups that makes them interesting for a variety of biomedical applications such as drug delivery, theranostics and as antimicrobials. Their synthesis can be complicated, time-consuming and expensive which has been an obstacle to their success. READ MORE

18. Novel Porous Films from Functional and Biocompatible Linear-Dendritic Hybrids
Abstract : In the last decades, the fabrication of ordered nano- and microporous structures has attracted increasing interest due to their specific properties and multiple possible applications in electronics, as templates or in the biological field. The development of such materials has been favored by the introduction of the simple breath-figure templating method in the 1990’s. READ MORE

19. Mechanical and swelling properties of hydrogels
Abstract : Hydrogels have been used as one of the novel soft materials in many biomedical applications such as drug delivery and tissue engineering for recent decades. In the main part of this work, bi-functional poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) precursors with either thiols (PEG-SH) or allyls (PEG-Al) , covering molecular weights from 3 kDa to 8 kDa were synthesized and thoroughly characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-Raman and MALDI-TOF techniques.
