  1. 1. Natural products from nonracemie building blocks : synthesis of pine sawfly pheromones

    Author : Michael Larsson; Torbjörn Norin; Gunnar Westman; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Total synthesis; diastereoselective addition; dimethylzinc; Lewis acid; alkyllithium; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes a number of synthetic approaches for obtaining chiral, enantiomerically pure natural products, in particular some semiochemicals. This has been accomplished by using various strategies; by starting from compounds from the chiral pool, by using chiral auxiliaries, via enzymatic resolutions or by chemical asymmetric synthesis. 2. 2. Ventricular Depolarization in Ischemic Heart Disease.Value of Electrocardiography in Assessment of Severity and Extent of Acute Myocardial Ischemia

    Author : Michael Ringborn; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute myocardial ischemia; Acute myocardial infarction; Severity of ischemia; QRS changes; HF-QRS; QRS slopes; Depolarization changes; Myocardium at risk; Final infarct size; SPECT.;

    Abstract : Background In patients with symptoms compatible with acute myocardial infarction (MI), early triage by ECG in the pre-hospital phase by ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) criteria is important for direct transport of these patients to a regional center for primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). The time from first medical contact to pPCI should, due to present guidelines, be no longer than two hours. READ MORE

  3. 3. Magnetic relaxation studies of self-associating and membrane proteins

    Author : Michael Gottschalk; Lund University Bioimaging Center; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; beta-lactoglobulin A; Biokemisk teknik; Biochemical technology; HEWL; BPTI; bacteriorhodopsin; protein self-association; membrane proteins; NMR; magnetic relaxation dispersion;

    Abstract : Magnetic relaxation dispersion measurements have been performed on aqueous protein solutions to study the dynamics of waters in the proton transport channel of bacteriorhodopsin and the self-association of the proteins BPTI, lysozyme and beta-lactoglobulin. The measurements have focused on the bulk relaxation rates, R1 and R2, of three water nuclei 1H, 2H and 17O that are coupled to the protein environments by exchange and therefore report on properties such as the protein tumbling and dynamics of internal waters. 4. 4. Rectal cancer : Aspects of surgery and radiotherapy

    Author : Michael Dahlberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Rectal cancer; surgery; preoperative radiotherapy; local recurrence; survival; adverse effects; cost-effectiveness; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : In rectal cancer, local failure is one of the principle causes of morbidity and mortality. The use of radiotherapy as an adjuvant treatment in resectable rectal cancer is extensively studied in order to lower unacceptably high local failure rates. READ MORE

  5. 5. Integrated evaluation of resource efficiency and cost effectiveness in production systems

    Author : Michael Lieder; Bengt Lindberg; Peter Almström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; resource; efficiency; effectiveness; production system; evaluation; small and medium-sized enterprises;

    Abstract : Improved use of resources is of enormously high relevance and crucial for achieving as well as maintaining a sustainable condition. Especially industrial production has a superior responsibility in creating a long-term viable way of living. READ MORE
