  1. 6. Weighted Analysis of Microarray Experiments

    Author : Anders Sjögren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA microarray; differential expression; gene expression; quality control QC ; quality assurance QA ; quality assessment; generalised linear model; empirical Bayes; weighted moderated statistic; invalid p-value; heteroscedasticity; WAME; heteroscedasticity;

    Abstract : DNA microarrays are strikingly efficient tools for analysing gene expression for large sets of genes simultaneously. The aim is often to identify genes which are differentially expressed between some studied conditions, thereby gaining insight into which cellular mechanisms are differently active between the conditions. 2. 7. Array-based identification of disease-associated proteins

    Author : Maria Mikus; Peter Nilsson; Jochen M. Schwenk; Ina Schuppe-Koistinen; Dolores Cahill; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affinity proteomics; Antibody array; Antigen array; Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; Asthma; Atopic dermatitis; Biomarker discovery; Drug-induced liver injury; Microarray; Plasma; Protein microarray; Protein profiling; Serum; Suspension bead array; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : To increase our understanding of the human body in both health and disease, proteins can be studied in samples such as plasma and serum to provide a molecular profile of the physiological status. In the work presented in this thesis, array-based methods were used to study associations of protein and autoantibody profiles with disease. READ MORE

  3. 8. Genomic profiling of breast cancer by microarray-based technology and bioinformatics

    Author : Johan Staaf; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Survival; Prognostic predictor; Gene Expression; ERBB2; HER2; Microarray; Copy Number Analysis; CGH; aCGH; Amplification; Gene expression analysis;

    Abstract : Cancer is a genetic disease that arises when a cell acquires unlimited growth potential through a series of mutational events, which target genes essential for normal cell control and maintenance. Breast cancer is one of the most frequent malignancies in women worldwide, and it is characterized by heterogeneous tumor biology, histological subtypes, variable prognosis and variable responsiveness to treatment. 4. 9. Microarray analyses of the small intestinal mucosa during experimental and clinical cholera

    Author : Carl-Fredrik Flach; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Vibrio cholerae; cholera toxin; microarray; transporter; intraepithelial lymphocytes; innate defence;

    Abstract : Vibrio cholerae is a Gram-negative bacterium and the causative agent of cholera. The bacteria infect humans via contaminated water and food, and colonize the upper parts of the small intestine to cause disease. The disease is characterized by watery diarrhoea and most of its clinical features can be attributed to the secreted cholera toxin (CT). READ MORE

  5. 10. A microarray analysis of the host response to infection with Francisella tularensis

    Author : Henrik Andersson; Anders Sjöstedt; David Stenger; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Francisella tularensis; tularemia; host response; gene expression; microarray; Clinical bacteriology; Klinisk bakteriologi;

    Abstract : Francisella tularensis is a gram-negative bacterium that is the cause of the serious and sometimes fatal disease, tularemia, in a wide range of animal species and in humans. The response of cells of the mouse macrophage cell line J774 to infection with Francisella tularensis LVS was analyzed by means of a DNA microarray. READ MORE
