  1. 1. Diffusion MRI with generalised gradient waveforms : methods, models, and neuroimaging applications

    Author : Deneb Boito; Evren Özarslan; Magnus Herberthson; Anders Eklund; Ida Blystad; Frederik Laun; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diffusion; Diffusion MRI; Microstructure; Brain; White matter; Microscopic anisotropy; Constrained optimisation;

    Abstract : The incessant, random motion of water molecules within biological tissues reveals unique information about the tissues’ structural and functional characteristics. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is sensitive to this random motion, and since the mid-1990s it has been extensively employed for studying the human brain. READ MORE

  2. 2. The influence of Al alloy microstructure on conversion coating formation

    Author : Salil Sainis; Caterina Zanella; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aluminium alloys; cast Al-Si alloys; conversion coating treatment; cerium; localized deposition; surface pre-treatments; microstructure; SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM; aluminiumlegeringar; gjutna Al-Si legeringar; omvandlingsbeläggningar; cerium; lokaliserad deposition; ytförbehandlingar; microstruktur SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM;

    Abstract : The formation of conversion coatings based on Ce, trivalent Cr and Ti/Zr is triggered by the local pH increase at cathodic IM sites of the aluminium alloy microstructure. The pH gradient is created over the cathodic intermetallic (IM) sites of the microstructure and its intensity is influenced by their activity which depends on their chemical composition, their size, and spatial distribution. 3. 3. On the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Al alloys

    Author : Haiping Cao; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Mg-AI; microstructure; mechanical properties; divorced degree; modeling; mould constraint; segregation band; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The microstructural features and the mechanical properties of binary Mg-Al alloys have been investigated by using a gradient solidification technique. Homogeneous and nearly defect-free samples were produced under well controlled cooling conditions, through which the microstructural characteristics as well as the relationships between microstructure and mechanical properties in Mg-AI alloys were precisely defined. 4. 4. Processing Aspects for Improving Mechanical Properties in Aluminium Castings

    Author : Jonas Bäckman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Aluminium; microstructure; mechanical properties; gradient solidification; mould filling; filter; filter parameter; casting simulation; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The relation between the process and mechanical properties in aluminium alloys for castings has been examined. The relation was hard to define since the spread in data was severe due to defects created in the casting process. To avoid such defects a gradient solidification equipment was built. READ MORE

  5. 5. On computational homogenization of gradient crystal inelasticity

    Author : Kristoffer Carlsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; computational homogenization; gradient theory; multiscale modeling; crystal plasticity;

    Abstract : Crystal inelasticity is the main modeling technique employed to study the mechanical behavior of polycrystalline metallic materials. This class of models has the capability to represent micromechanical phenomena such as plastic slip, grain boundary interactions, and dislocation pile-up. READ MORE
