  1. 1. Electron Transport in Semiconductor Nanowires

    Author : Mikael Björk; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heterostructures; single electron transistors; resonant tunneling; quantum dots; weak antilocalization; Halvledarfysik; field effect transistors; Semiconductory physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Björk; Low-dimensional structures; nanowires; chemical beam epitaxy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, semiconductor nanowires are studied from the point of view of growth and electrical properties. The growth of nanowires is done by chemical beam epitaxy (CBE), an ultra-high vacuum technique allowing a precise control of precursor deposition and low growth rates. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ecological and physiological aspects of contaminant accumulation and transport by the filter-feeding mussel, Mytilus edulis

    Author : Mikael Björk; Jussi Kukkonen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Marine Ecotoxicology; marin ekotoxikologi;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the influence of food availability on the bioaccumulation kinetics and the transport of hydrophobic organic contaminants (HOCs) by the Baltic Sea blue mussel, Mytilus edulis. In laboratory studies, food availability was found to significantly modify the rate of physiological processes involved in filter-feeding. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gold Electrodeposition in Semiconductor Nanowire Technology

    Author : Reza Jafari Jam; Håkan Pettersson; Lars Samuelson; Magnus T. Borgström; Mikael Björk; Sweden Lund Lund University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are widely considered as promising candidates for next generations of electronics and optoelectronics. Gold seed particles have so far been recognized as the most important catalyst for growth of nanowires. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pervasive GameFlow : Identifying and Exploring the Mechanisms of Player Enjoyment in Pervasive Games

    Author : Kalle Jegers; Mikael Wiberg; Charlotte Wiberg; Victor Kaptelinin; Staffan Björk; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pervasive games; Playability; Flow; GameFlow; Informatics; Informatik; människa-datorinteraktion; människa-datorinteraktion;

    Abstract : Pervasive games are computer games that build, to various extents, on social interaction as a driving force in the game play, on integration between physical and virtual worlds and on constant access to constantly ongoing games from virtually every existing context (anytime, anywhere gaming). This new genre of computer games presents many challenges for both researchers and industry; one of the most important is how to understand enjoyable player experiences in this new kind of computer gaming. 5. 5. Clinical application of intensity and energy modulated radiotherapy with photon and electron beams

    Author : Xiangkui Mu; Björn Zackrisson; Mikael Karlsson; Thomas Björk-Eriksson; Erik Blomquist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Radiotherapy; IMXT; IMET; IMPT; proton beams; electron beams; treatment planning; cancer induction; side-effects; fraction time; intensity modulated radiotherapy; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : In modern, advanced radiotherapy (e.g. intensity modulated photon radiotherapy, IMXT) the delivery time for each fraction becomes prolonged to 10-20 minutes compared with the conventional, commonly 2-5 minutes. The biological effect of this prolongation is not fully known. READ MORE
