  1. 1. Risk assessment of chemical mixtures in the aquatic environment

    Author : Mikael Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical mixtures; Risk assessment; Pesticides; Industrial chemicals; REACH; Chemical monitoring;

    Abstract : The total chemical production within the European Union amounts to more than 300 million tonnes per year, of which 140 million tonnes are considered as hazardous to the environment. In order to ensure that these chemicals do not have harmful effects under normal use, likely environmental concentrations are compared to assumed environmentally safe concentration, and only if the resulting risk is deemed acceptable is the product or chemical allowed for use. Author : Mikael Gustavsson; Mohammed Ismail; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In many telecommunications applications, as mobile radio and internet access, analog filters and data converters are needed. The data converters are crucial building blocks that strongly influence the performance and price of the whole system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Platformization: Digital Materiality at the Limits of Discourse

    Author : Mikael Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : The digital platform has served us well as a metaphor for an imaginary ‘something’ made comprehensible through theories such as matchmaking, externalities, and network effects. But as much as metaphors and theories can help us imagine and understand some aspects of a phenomenon, they can also limit us in seeing others. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the Interrelation Between Kraft Cooking Conditions and Pulp Composition

    Author : Catrin Gustavsson; Mikael E. Lindström; Jorge Colodette; KTH; []

    Abstract : In the early 1990’s, a lot of work was focused on extending the kraft cook to a low lignin content (low kappa number). The driving force was the need to further reduce the environmental impact of the bleaching, as less delignification work would be needed there. READ MORE

  5. 5. Essays on the Transmission of Human Capital and the Impact of Technological Change

    Author : Adrian Adermon; Mikael Lindahl; Magnus Gustavsson; Markus Jäntti; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Essay 1: If grandparents have an independent impact on their grandchildren's schooling, intergenerational correlations estimated using two generations will underestimate the true level of intergenerational persistence in education. Recent research has found such multi-generational effects, but there is still no consensus on whether these estimates are due to a direct impact of grandparents on their grandchildren, or if they arise because of measurement error or model misspecification.
