  1. 1. Advanced Laser-based Multi-scalar Imaging for Flame Structure Visualization towards a Deepened Understanding of Premixed Turbulent Combustion

    Author : Bo Zhou; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser Diagnostics; PLIF; High Spatial Resolution; Multi-scalar Instantaneous Visualization; HCO CH Radicals; Distributed Reaction Zone; Mild Combustion.; Combustion Regimes; Turbulence Flame Interaction; Turbulent Premixed Combustion; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Zhou;

    Abstract : The work presented in the thesis concerns the developments of laser-based diagnostics and its application to the study of turbulent premixed combustion. The diagnostic developments, mainly concerned with planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), are intended to provide instantaneous visualization of the key species originating from the combustion processes involved in the burning of hydrocarbons and nitrogen-containing fuels under turbulent conditions. 2. 2. Freeze-Dried Wheat Gluten-Based Foams

    Author : Thomas Blomfeldt; Mikael Hedenqvist; Delcour Jan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Foams; Wheat gluten; Glutenin; Gliadin; Renewable; Freeze-drying; Pore structure; Baceterial cellulose; Glycerol; Mechanical properties; Thermal conductivity; Combustion properties;

    Abstract : This thesis presents wheat gluten foams as an alternative to the available commercialfoams. Polymeric foams, like all plastics, are mostly made from petroleum, and this isaffecting the environment negatively with the emission of greenhouse gases and generation oflandfills. READ MORE

  3. 3. Effect of chemical and physical properties on combustion of biomass particle

    Author : Amit Biswas; Fabrizio Scala; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Biomass combustion is an interesting alternative to fossil fuel. Modeling and simulation is used for design optimization of biomass boilers and furnace. It is difficult to develop a sufficiently accurate and computationally efficient model because the combustion system is highly complicated multi-scale, multi-phase and multi-physics problem. 4. 4. Application of subcritical and supercritical fluids in coal extraction and analysis

    Author : Fiona Nermark; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Morupule coal; desulfurization; demineralization; Supercritical CO2;

    Abstract : Coal is used to generate electricity and produce high-value chemicals through coal gasification, liquefaction, and coke. During combustion sulfur is released, which leads to acid rain formation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Renewable diesel fuels and emission control strategies : Implications for occupational exposure, human health, and the environment

    Author : Louise Gren; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aerosol technology;

    Abstract : Combustion of fossil diesel is a major environmental problem for both the climate and human health. Renewable diesel fuels have been developed and introduced to the market to reduce the net CO2 emissions. READ MORE
