  1. 1. Haulage system optimization for underground mines : A discrete event simulation and mixed integer programming approach

    Author : Abubakary Salama; Jazek Paraszczak; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : In coming decades, many underground mines will operate at greater depths, which will affect many operational factors such as increased rock stress, longer haulage distances, and higher energy consumption, which potentially can generate lower production rates. The increased rock stresses may lead to smaller sized openings, further restricting the size of loading and hauling equipment that can be used. READ MORE

  2. 2. Design fires in underground hard rock mines

    Author : Rickard Hansen; Haukur Ingason; Håkan Frantzich; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : Design fire; underground; hard rock mine; vehicle fire; smoke spread; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : During several decades considerable research activities have been conducted with respect to fires in coal mines, but the research activities with respect to hard rock mines have been limited. As the hard rock mines are getting more complex the need for deeper understanding of fires in underground hard rock mines are getting more in demand. READ MORE

  3. 3. Load-Haul-Dump operations in underground mines

    Author : Bartlomiej Skawina; Jenny Greberg; Abubkary Salama; Oliver Langefeld; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LHD; DES; simulation; underground mine; energy consumption; ventilation requirements; orepass loss; production scheduling; process control; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis addresses several aspects of loading operations inunderground mines, in particular tools and equipment selection. It also addresses the flexibilityof the fleet when subject to substantial disturbances, such as ore pass loss, and proposes integration of the scheduling system with discrete event simulation. 4. 4. Localization for Autonomous Vehicles in Underground Mines

    Author : Kristin Nielsen; Gustaf Hendeby; Fredrik Gustafsson; Robert Lundh; Giorgio Grisetti; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The trend of automation in industry, and in the society in general, is something that probably all of us have noticed. The mining industry is no exception to this trend, and there exists a vision of having completely automated mines with all processes monitored and controlled through a higher level optimization goal. 5. 5. Draw control strategy for sublevel caving mines : A probabilistic approach

    Author : Gurmeet Shekhar; Håkan Schunnesson; Anna Gustafson; Jesper Martinsson; Matthias Wimmer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Draw control; sublevel caving; probability models; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Sublevel caving is an underground mass mining method used for extracting different types of ores from the earth crust. Mines using sublevel caving (SLC) as the primary mining method are generally highly mechanized with standardized and independent unit operations. READ MORE
