  1. 6. Egocentric interaction for ambient intelligence

    Author : Dipak Surie; Lars-Erik Janlert; Thomas Pederson; Hans Gellersen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ambient Intelligence; Human-Computer Interaction; Context-Aware computing; Ubiquitous Computing; Mixed-Reality; Smart Environments; Activity-Based Computing; Ambient Ecology; business data processing; administrativ databehandling;

    Abstract : Ambient intelligence refers to the vision of computationally augmented everyday environments that are sensitive, adaptive and responsive to humans and intelligently support their daily lives. Ambient ecologies are the infrastructures of ambient intelligence. READ MORE

  2. 7. Head-mounted Projection Display to Support and Improve Motion Capture Acting

    Author : Daniel Kade; Oguzhan Özcan; Rikard Lindell; Morten Fjeld; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Current and future animations seek for realistic motions to create an illusion of authentic and believable animations. A technology widely used to support this process is motion capture. Therefore, motion capture actors are used to enrich the movements of digital avatars with suitable and believable motions and emotions. READ MORE

  3. 8. A Position Control-based Approach to Stiff Objects Haptic Rendering

    Author : Yang Wang; Kjell Andersson; Lei Feng; Anders Robertsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; haptic rendering; position control-based approach; rigid-body interaction; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : With electronic components and computational power becoming more portable and available to general consumers, applications like virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) are on the rise and renovating the industry of training simulators. Though it is not fully accepted in surgical robots, haptic force feedback can be safely introduced into various surgical training simulators to convey the necessary haptic cues needed to develop hand-eye coordination and motor skills. 4. 9. Computer simulations of the clinical encounter : perceptions and emotional aspects

    Author : Olivier Courteille; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Virtual patients; medical simulation; computer mediated communication; problembased learning; affective learning; experiential learning.;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to examine the issues surrounding affective learning, perceived effectiveness, student motivation and engagement in computer simulations of patient encounters. Offering a high degree of realism, authenticity and interactivity, the Interactive Simulation of Patients (ISP) system, a Virtual Patient (VP) environment, was found to be a good technological candidate for conducting this research.
