  1. 11. Advancing the life cycle energy optimisation methodology

    Author : Hamza Bouchouireb; Ciarán J. O'Reilly; Peter Göransson; Rupert J. Baumgartner; José Potting; Tracy Bhamra; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; life cycle energy; vehicle design; optimisation; functional conflicts; livscykelenergi; fordonsdesign; optimering; tvär-funktionella konflikter; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : The Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle, while complying with a set of functional constraints. This effectively balances trade-offs, and therewith avoids sub-optimal shifting between the energy demand for the cradle-to-production of materials, operation of the vehicle, and end-of-life phases. 2. 12. Model-based optimization for individualized deep brain stimulation

    Author : Rubén Cubo; Alexander Medvedev; Madeleine Lowery; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Neuromodulation; Deep Brain Stimulation; Inverse Problems; Optimization; Finite Element Methods; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is an established therapy that is predominantly  utilized in treating the symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor, crippling diseases like Chronic Pain and Epilepsy, and psychiatric diseases such as Schizophrenia and Depression. Due to its invasive nature, DBS is considered as a last resort therapy. READ MORE

  3. 13. Parameter estimation and model based control design of drive train systems

    Author : Mats Tallfors; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; control; drive train; estimation; identification; mechanical; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : The main control task in many speed-controlled drives is to eliminate or reduce the load speed error caused by the load torque disturbance and reduce oscillations as quickly as possible. This thesis addresses different aspects of identification and control of such resonant elastic systems. READ MORE

  4. 14. Modeling, Control and Optimization of a Plate Reactor

    Author : Staffan Haugwitz; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mid-ranging control; transition control; start-up; exothermic reaction; chemical reactor; modeling; process control; optimization; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : A new chemical reactor, the Alfa Laval Plate Reactor, is being developed by Alfa Laval, a Swedish world-leading heat exchanger company. The plate reactor combines the high-heat-transfer capabilities of plate heat exchangers with the efficient mixing and reaction control typical of microreactors. READ MORE

  5. 15. Synthesis of a Model-based Tire Slip Controller

    Author : Stefan Solyom; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LMI; synthesis; hybrid; piecewise linear; ABS; PID;

    Abstract : The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is an important component of a complex steering system for the modern car. In the latest generation of brake-by-wire systems, the performance requirements on the ABS have changed. The controllers have to be able to maintain a specified tire slip for each wheel during braking. READ MORE
