  1. 1. Model Based Coding : Initialization, Parameter Extraction and Evaluation

    Author : Zhengrong Yao; Haibo Li; Ralf Schäfer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Model-based coding; Motion estimation; Vision based tracking; Initialization; Analysis-by-Synthesis; Texture mapping; Active tracking.; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Abstract : This thesis covers topics relevant to model-based coding. Model-based coding is a promising very low bit rate video coding technique. The idea behind this technique is to parameterize a talking head and to extract and transmit the parameters describing facial movements. At the receiver, the parameters are used to reconstruct the talking head. READ MORE

  2. 2. Model-based coding : extraction, coding, and evaluation of face model parameters

    Author : Jörgen Ahlberg; Andrew Senior; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with model-based coding of human faces for low bitrate communication. The basicidea of model-based coding is that the appearance and motion of a human face are analysed. By thisanalysis, compact parameters allowing realistic visualization of a synthetic face are extracted. READ MORE

  3. 3. Model Based Optimization of a Complete Diesel Engine/SCR System

    Author : Claes Ericson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MPC; model based optimization; real time models; model based control; SCR; optimization; EGR;

    Abstract : Achieving upcoming emissions legislation (Euro VI) for heavy trucks is a serious challenge for the manufacturers. Apart from the increasingly strict limits on nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate emissions (PM), the limited amount of fossil fuels as well as alarming climate changes simultaneously drives the demand for low CO2 emissions. 4. 4. Model-based execution monitoring

    Author : Marcus Bjäreland; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : The task of monitoring the execution of a software-based controller in order to detect, classify, and recover from discrepancies between the actual effects of control actions and the effects predicted by a model, is the topic of this thesis. Model-based execution monitoring is proposed as a technique for increasing the safety and optimality of operation of large and complex industrial process controllers, and of controllers operating in complex and unpredictable environments (such as unmanned aerial vehicles). 5. 5. Model Based Fault Diagnosis : Methods, Theory, and Automotive Engine Applications

    Author : Mattias Nyberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Model based fault diagnosis is to perform fault diagnosis by means of models. An important question is how to use the models to construct a diagnosis system. To develop a general theory for this, useful in real applications, is the topic of the first part of this thesis. READ MORE
