  1. 1. Moisture redistribution in screeded concrete slabs

    Author : Magnus Åhs; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hysteresis; Scanning; Relative humidity; Moisture redistribution; Sorption isotherms; Screeded slab;

    Abstract : The principal objective for this licentiate thesis is to develop a methodology and evaluation model in order to make the future relative humidity in a screeded concrete slab predictable. Residual moisture in screeded concrete slabs may redistribute to the top screed surface under semi-permeable flooring, thus elevating the relative humidity, RH, and possibly exceed the critical humidity level. 2. 2. Redistribution of moisture and ions in cement based materials

    Author : Magnus Åhs; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Moisture redistribution; ion redistribution; cement based materials; hysteresis; sorption isotherm; scanning;

    Abstract : There were two principal objectives for this thesis. The first was to develop a methodology and evaluation model of moisture redistribution in order to make the future relative humidity in a screeded concrete slab predictable. The second objective was to develop a method to determine the critical humidity for ion transport in concrete. READ MORE

  3. 3. Creep, deformation and moisture redistribution during air convective wood drying and conditioning : air convective wood drying and conditioning

    Author : Tom Morén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : Air convective wood drying is associated with a considerable risk for damage to the timber, especially checking and warping. This thesis contains an analysis of creep and deformation during wood drying related to stress development and susceptibility of checking. Also heat and mass transfer problems in the wood drying process are considered. READ MORE

  4. 4. Climatic conditions inside nuclear reactor containments : Evaluation of moisture condition in the concrete within reactor containments and interaction with the ambient compartments

    Author : Mikael OXFALL; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : kärnkraft; betong; in situ mätningar; relativ fuktighet; kokvattenreaktorer; tryckvattenreaktorer; masstransport;

    Abstract : Safety is the top priority at a nuclear facility. The nuclear power plants are designed to prevent radioactive leakage to the surroundings, both during normal operation as well as in case of a severe accident. One of the most important structures in a nuclear power plant, with regard to safety, is thus the reactor containment wall. READ MORE

  5. 5. Micro-mechanically based modeling of mechano-sorptive creep in paper

    Author : Johan Alfthan; Peter Gudmundson; Staffan Toll; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; applied mechanics; materials science; packaging; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The creep of paper is accelerated by moisture content changes. This acceleration is known as mechano-sorptive creep, which is also found in wood and some other materials. Mechano-sorptive creep has been known for several decades but it is still not well understood, and there is no generally accepted model explaining the effect. READ MORE
